Look at the joy on these faces! It doesn't get much better than Tiny Tots. 😎🤩

Closing out our 2025-2026 Live Arts Experience season, Harrisonburg and Rocktown High School Bands performed for nearly 3,000 K-2 students from Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County a few weeks ago! In its 18th year, the annual Tiny Tots concert features the oldest students performing for the youngest, introducing students to various band instruments, aspects of conducting, and music techniques. Song selections included favorites from Disney movies and popular children's TV shows like Bluey and Spongebob Square Pants, complete with a sing-along!

@forbescenterjmu was a busy place a few weeks ago when 3rd graders from Rockingham County Public Schools came on campus for the annual JMU Dance Workshop. Exploring contemporary dance, movement, and choreography, the talented student dancer members of the JMU Contemporary Dance Ensemble performed works from their show New Voices in Dance. The captivating performance celebrated the power of creativity, movement, and collaboration. The students also had an opportunity to learn a short choreographed dance in their seat.

Bringing teaching artists into the schools for a live arts experience residency is a favorite part of our work at @agcshenvalley. A few weeks ago, middle school students from both Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City Public Schools participated in an engaging and interactive performance from world-renowned jazz musician, Makinto. His program took students on a musical and educational journey through the evolution of African American music and history.

As overheard at a favorite local ice cream shop...
Kindergartener to sister: "...and today I learned Moana is REAL. I saw her at Tiny Tots."

The arts create moments of connection and meaning. Your gift to @agcshenvalley today during @greatcommunitygive directly supports meaningful arts experiences and moments that inspire the youngest students in our community.

“I remember being a 1st grader at Waterman Elementary and walking into the Harrisonburg High School Auditorium [for Tiny Tots]. The experience was so fun and memorable – I wanted to be on that stage! That moment was one of the reasons I wanted to learn an instrument and now I'm the high schooler performing for the little kids!” – HCPS senior, Sarai Calderon Espinoza

TODAY our youngest students will be at Harrisonburg High School for a Tiny Tots performance from our oldest students, including Sarai. For 10 years, @agcshenvalley has worked to make moments like this one possible for every child in our community.

TOMORROW, we're participating in the Great Community Give from 6am-8pm. Your gift of $10 or more makes you part of something bigger – a community of champions who help every child have access to meaningful arts experiences and moments like Sarai's.

Help us create meaningful arts experiences for local students for the next 10 years.
