POSTS STORIES REELS

In amongst all the incredible submissions we’ve seen in the World Food Photography Award shortlist this morning, I’m so pleased to share that *two* images shot in collaboration with the fantastic @lucy.bruns.stylist are shortlisted in the Cake Award category!

What started with “hey, when are you free to come over, I have an idea” and a full day of play. An absolute master with the piping bag, so proud of what we have created.

Now, go check out all the other submissions!

Plenty of posts out I keep seeing about annoying things clients say, and I mean there’s a LOT of these. It’s not that they’re not relatable, they’re clearly painfully familiar for a lot of us.

But the truth is, on the most part, my clients are brilliant. They’re why I do my job, and don’t just sit in a hole somewhere crying with my camera and a frozen pizza. There are so many things I hear on and off set, from any member of the team. They signal a great shoot, are the best moments of freelancing, and keep me doing my best. Here’s just 5 of my treasured favourites that live rent free in my head 🤍🙏

Because yes we’ve all heard something that’s made us have to stare into the abyss for 3 minutes before even being capable of forming a response.
But the cheerleaders? They outperform every time.

What are the best things you’ve heard from your clients?

What is 🍂autumn 🍂 to you?
For me it’s those *colours*. Oranges and reds. I get excited for every turn of the season just for the turn of ingredients that come around.

For me it’s also squash soup, I wait all yeaaar (I could get a squash in June but why would I?), a proper pie, (local!!!) mushroom risotto, even the pears.
Eaten next to an actual fire 😍
Sharing some seasonal delights from autumn menu shooting over at @ratrockbourne, ones that really scream for that dip in temperature!

Also the tuna starter, look at her, that is basically the picture of autumn leaves turning on a plate. She’s beautiful !!

Highlights ✨
It’s funny, I did film a bit of my process for this project - then I scrapped the whole thing and redid it all to look like this! But that is for another day .

Now about that tart…

From my last personal project blackberry picking, and the things I love about the end of summer. The berries are all gone now, looking at my rainy cloudy forecast I think “ah, England is back”. It’s kinda nice rn, I have a lot of work to get done. Check on me in a month and see if I feel the same 😂

just waiting for all these fun guys to pop up next am I right 🍄 by @aggiebeaphoto

Sneak peek & BTS alert 🚨‼️
Autumn menu at @ratrockbourne 🍂😍
Now here’s another menu shoot I can’t wait to get stuck into.

It’s been an exceptionally busy week BUT the wonderful Julianna over at The Rose and Thistle helped me capture some behind the scenes from this week’s photoshoot and I would be remiss not to show you what we’ve been up to!

Autumn means cosy vibes so cue the lighting setup to match, consistent with what we know and love from last season’s shoot but a little nudge into that colder-weather mood and some proper hearty food.
Obviously, getting some fireplace action was a must 🔥

Well helloo good friends 👋🏻
I’ve been doing a little website refresh and it made me think about some of my faaaavourite shots and thought it would be fun to show you guys some of my all time love-to-shoot list!!
1. The Table Shot; classic, set the scene, show a BUMCH of dishes altogether, imagine it’s your dinner party.
2. Edge of Table; also classic, elegant, a bit of chair or flooring gives a bit more context, a corner or a curve is 10/10 for framing.
3. Not even a table; wow, are there beautiful chairs with interesting colours or textures? Sign me up. Sometimes the back of the chair is great for shadow play too!
4. Hands; a human!! Yes it’s great to get interactions with the food. People make weird faces when they eat, hands can express SO MUCH without that fuss (can you tell I’m not a portrait photographer anymore).
5. Partial illumination; There’s a little mystery in only seeing part of the scene. I also love diagonal line compositions, I’m not sure what else I need to say about this one 🔥
6. The Pour; obviously. Syrup, chocolate, cream, coffee, cocktails- the list goes on. If you tell me you’ve got something to pour I will be ecstatic.
7. Glistening; again, I’m not sure what else to say about this, as something in my lizard brain locks IN when there’s a dessert. Was this the right way to describe it? I’m not sure but I did leave the best until last. I could take photos of glistening molten chocolate all day if you let me.

Are these your favourite food photos to see?? What did I miss? 🍽️ by @aggiebeaphoto

I always love blackberry season. I love seeing them everywhere, always feeling a bit wistful for the big juicy ones at the very tops of the bushes.
And I love these late summer sun evenings, wistful for the later evenings passed us now as the sun sets earlier and earlier.
And I love chocolate because I’m a human woman.
So I baked a few a of my favourite things up together 👩‍🍳

I haven’t made a chocolate tart for a VERY long time and I have to say that the pastry nearly had me in despair and quite exhausted but the payoff is immaculate 👌🏻

Go pick some berries 🤍 by @aggiebeaphoto

Name a more cosy autumn vibe than going to a small village and going into the pub on the corner, I’ll wait.
@ratrockbourne for your Friday 🩷🍾

I have perhaps holiday-ed too hard to postpone the summer-is-over feeling. You’ll find me cosy in a booth with dinner, wine and dessert by @aggiebeaphoto

September? Is that you?
Listen, summer is my favourite season no question, but Autumn/Winter menus bring out something else in my soul. I’ve been sitting on these pics for *weeks*. In fact maybe I owe an apology because we’ve had so much amazing work together this year that I’ve been sitting on.
I’ll post the summery food when we’re in our 5th consecutive week of rain and need the respite 👀

My loves at @opus11 🤍 by @aggiebeaphoto

I could have made a full post with photos of this tiramisu French toast bUT I held onto myself long enough to add some other delish moments from this summer’s new opening of the Broadstone branch of @theitalianbakerydorset with @we.are.verde 🤤
We’ve been lucky enough to have some beautiful, sun drenched photoshoots over the summer. Something for my sweet tooth, and my savoury for that matter.

That cheese pull btw 👀 by @aggiebeaphoto

🇮🇹 on film
This summer’s 35mm I decided would actually be the thing I love to shoot the most 🍽️ and wouldn’t you know, I ate pasta in Poole, Winchester, and then finally Italy. I didn’t even plan this, just a big fan. 🍝 so here goes my rounds for the last 3 months:
1-3 @davincispoole special seafood linguine and tiramisu
4-6 @bottegadelmastro.uk lamb ragu pappardelle and pistachio tiramisu (I barely had to look at the menu, Martina knew instinctively what I needed)
7 venison gnocchi & Lago di Carezza (trust me tiramisu was had later)

And obviously, processed at the one and only @snapsphotoservices - the main reason I’m excited to shoot film is that I get to visit these two and natter whenever I drop off and pick up my films ✨ by @aggiebeaphoto
