45 Aggie students and staff go to prison to put their entrepreneurial skills to work 👍🏼

One of our absolute favorite days of the year… Aggie Day! The room was full of ideas, encouragement, thoughtful feedback, and plenty of Aggie spirit as Texas A&M students and staff worked alongside the women of EWOP as they prepare for the Business Plan Competition.

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to do our annual visit to the Lockhart prison for Aggie Day. Sharing entrepreneurial advice and hearing the powerful stories of those rebuilding their futures was truly life changing. Thank you to everyone that came!! by @aggieewop

We’ve been waiting so long for Year 3 of Aggie Day as a student organization, and getting to experience it again was truly so special. Being able to visit and connect with the women we work with through this program is such a blessing and a learning experience that I always struggle to put into words.

I asked one of our new members, Gabriela Arguijo, who experienced her first visit to the prison through Aggie EWOP, to share her thoughts. This is what she had to say:

“As a first year member in aggie EWOP I was so grateful to experience the passion and gratitude the women in the EWOP program have. The amount of time and research these women put into their business pitches was so awesome to see. What was even better was getting to personally talk to some of the women in the program and getting to hear their stories. I felt so thankful to be there and really cherished the time I got to spend with everyone there. I greatly encourage anyone who is looking for a impactful experience to take some time and join us next time for a wonderful experience”.

Study sesh!!! 📖📚🫶🏻

We had so much fun getting together and making the boring school stuff a little more fun!!

One of our favorite parts of Aggie EWOP is getting to know other like-minded women outside of our meetings and service events. Our socials are always optional, but we’d love for you to come hang out, study, and get to know everyone!

As applications are due this week, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on one of our favorite parts of the year…Aggie Day!!

Aggie Day is an annual tradition where Aggies visit the Lockhart Women’s Prison to connect with the women in EWOP and provide real-time feedback on their entrepreneurial ideas. It’s a day filled with creativity, connection, encouragement, and learning on both sides.

You’ll often hear members of Aggie EWOP describe Aggie Day as one of the most fulfilling and insightful days of their lives, and it’s easy to see why.

This year, Aggie Day is October 2nd, and we could not be more excited! We’ll be spending the entire day at the prison supporting, learning from, and celebrating the incredible women in EWOP.
