For the past 8 years, I’ve been working in The Canaan Center more than I’ve been working on The Canaan Center. And let me tell you, this journey has come with mistakes, bumps in the road, losses, hard lessons, and some incredible wins. I’m excited to share that I’ve officially been accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program! 🎉

And first, I have to thank God for this opportunity. 🙏🏾 For the past year, I’ve literally been praying for an opportunity to be part of a business program where I could learn, grow, and become a better CEO. I knew I needed more than experience. I needed the right education, mentorship, exposure, and people around me to help me take TCC to the next level. So to see that prayer answered through this opportunity means more to me than just being accepted into a program. During my interview, I kept coming back to something I’ve learned about myself as a leader. I can’t run a business on compassion alone.

Compassion is at the heart of why I started TCC and why I continue doing this work. But building something that lasts also requires strong systems, financial discipline, strategy, accountability, and knowing how to make difficult business decisions. After eight years of figuring things out, making mistakes, celebrating wins, starting over, and sometimes learning lessons the expensive way 😂, I finally get the opportunity to step outside of the day to day and really learn how to run and grow a business at the highest level through Goldman Sachs.

I’m also excited about the people I’ll meet. Other entrepreneurs who understand what it means to build something from the ground up, make mistakes, get back up, adjust, and keep going.Most importantly, I want to build a stronger company that can continue serving people with disabilities with compassion while also being financially healthy, organized, sustainable, and prepared to grow.

Happy Mother’s Day to my incredible mom.

I met you at such a critical time in my life, and through every year of being your foster daughter, you have shown me what real strength looks like. I’ve watched you stand strong through hard times these past few years, when so many people would have quit, lost their mind, or questioned God you still believed, you still showed up, and you loved even more harder.

People may have their own opinions, but the truth is, only a strong person can recognize another strong-willed person. You are the kind of mother who tells the hard truth but still loves deeply. You can sit on the phone, laugh about everything, and still say, “Let’s pray,” whether things are good or bad.

James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials… because the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Your life shows that kind of faith.

I’m so grateful to be called your daughter. I believe and know God has so much more in store for you this new season of your life, bigger and wayyy better than before.

I was just scrolling through the CSC Broward training calendar and something made me stop for a second.

I saw my training listed.

This will be my first contract training as a CSC-approved trainer, and seeing it on the Children’s Services Council page really meant a lot. Over the years I’ve spent so much time helping organizations write grants, develop their missions, and tell the story behind their work. Now I get to step into a space where I can actually teach other nonprofits how to do the same.

On March 12, 2026 (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM) we’ll be leading a session called:

“Telling Your Story: How to Write Impactful Mission Statements and Case Stories.”

And what makes it even more special is that I’ll be doing this with my sister-in-love, @labellemarieanne Marie Bestman, as my co-trainer. It means a lot to share this moment with family and someone who also cares deeply about helping organizations grow and communicate their impact.

In this session we’ll talk about how organizations can clearly explain who they are, what they do, and why their work matters. So many groups are doing incredible things in their communities but struggle to put that into words in a way that connects with funders and partners. That’s what this training is about.

Grateful for the opportunity and excited for what’s ahead.

God continues to show me every single day just how much of an impact I’ve made in this world. To be recognized with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award — the highest honor for volunteer service in the United States — speaks volumes about where He is taking me next. 🙏🏽

My goal has always been to leave an imprint so strong that my children can follow in my footsteps to create change and build a generation of legacy makers.

Established by executive order under President George W. Bush, this award honors individuals and organizations who dedicate thousands of hours each year to serving others in areas like mental health and wellness, job readiness, mentorship, and program development. This year’s award, is more than recognition, it’s a reminder that purpose-driven work truly transforms lives.

Thank you to the @loufoundationinc for this incredible honor and for recognizing the heart behind my mission. I’m beyond excited to celebrate this moment at the upcoming gala and to continue walking boldly in God’s plan for my life. 🙌🏽
