🎗️Endometrial Cancer part 4
Long novel ahead …

I’ve always been open and wanted to share my journey when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in 2023 .. mainly cos I didn’t know of many woman going through the same journey . I couldn’t find support groups online and when I did find one … I had no response.

My journey so far
April 2023 - diagnosed with endometrial cancer after my menstrual cycle was ongoing for over a year
August 2023 - full hysterectomy was advised best solution
October - December 2023 - “just incase treatment” as the cancer had spread outside of my uterus. 30 rounds of radiation with 2 rounds of chemo.
January - March 2024 - 4 rounds of chemo

In 2024 during check ups and scans a lump was found but was being monitored.

April 2025 - that lump grew so it was decided surgery was needed and lump was removed. I was advised there was no spread of disease. First reoccurrence.

November 2025 - I took myself to Middlemore after experiencing severe cramping and pain. I was later told it was a possible haematoma build up of blood and was sent home with pain meds.

I was however experiencing abdominal pain still on my left side.
Took myself to my GP early this year and was once again sent to have ultrasounds and ctscans.

February 2026 - I was given the news that my cancer had returned within the abdominal wall on my left side. Second reoccurrence.
2 options surgery or treatment
Best path forward - 6 rounds of chemotherapy with immunotherapy.

This was not part of my plan this year, and this time it’s taken me a long time to get my head around it but I wanna continue to share and let ALL ladies out there to know your body and your normal and seek help always … a second opinion if you need to.

So today I have my 1st round chemotherapy with immunotherapy.
I am forever blessed with such a loving family and supportive friends … my village
But most importantly my faith in our Heavenly Father will get me through … each hurdle I continue to trust in Gods plan for me 🙏

If you have read this far you are a real one!
Appreciate the love prayers and check ins
Always grateful … forever blessed … taken in Auckland Hospital by @ahlena16

🛑 ANOTHER LONG READ AHEAD … 🛑
Part Two

After my hysterectomy surgery I was advised that there were in their words some “fried tissue” found. So samples were taken and sent them off for testing. After 8 weeks of recovery I was finally updated that unfortunately my cancer was not contained in my uterus and had spread outside to my left fallopian tube and left ovary - so moving my grade from 1A to 3A.
Best thing forward to make sure there is nothing lurking where my uterus and other organs was is to now have radiation & chemotherapy.

So what I thought was a closed chapter after surgery.. has now opened another chapter to get through.
But by the grace & mercy of God & the prayers and love of family & friends I’m still here.

Not one to openly share things but I should and needed to share my story to remind all our women & girls - please know YOUR normal when it comes to YOUR body & YOUR menstrual cycle. Know when something isn’t, doesn’t feel right … & DON’T WAIT!! See your doctor and don’t stop til you are heard and satisfied that all is being done for your health & wellbeing. Don’t settle for anything less!!

Not having any kids is something I now have to live with, maybe I left it too late maybe I didn’t but cancer stripped that for me and I cannot change the outcome. So please treasure your children no matter how old they are, you are truly blessed more than you know.

If you made it to the end just know that
I am thankful blessed and grateful for family & friends near & far for your constant prayers, love & check ins over the last few months.

Here’s to the next chapter ….
I got this ✊🏽 cos I know HE & you all got me 🙏🏽🧡 #jesusitrustinyou

🛑 LONG READ AHEAD … 🛑
Part One

After years of irregular periods and for the last year and a half ish my period did not stop!
After many doctor visits & being put on the pill I was finally asked to get an ultrasound to see what was going on. Then started the terrible cramping and back pain that led me to Middlemore in late March where I had a biopsy and had the Mirena put in (hoping to regulate my monthly cycle - which by the way did NOT work 🤦🏽‍♀️)
I was then told I had endometriosis.
What followed was a MRI and then finally an appointment with the Gynaecology Unit at Super Clinic.
April of this year I was diagnosed with Endometrial cancer or Uterine Cancer grade 1A (cancer that begins in the lining of the womb)
Best treatment advised by the doctors was a total hysterectomy (which is the removal of the uterus, cervix, ovaries and fallopian tubes) Yes all the parts that women have to create life.

Honestly I am that typical sit on the fence person who doesn’t like to deal with things head on or straight away. Having this surgermeant that any chance of bearing any children (I know I’m old but wishful thinking though) is gone 😞.
So after 4 weeks of reflecting & praying I finally agreed to the surgery set for July.
Due to a set back in dates surgery was set & booked for August. Everything was removed and looked forward to being on the road to recovery.
However, during my hospital stay, I ended up with a blood clot through an IV luer and had to stay even longer in hospital - what was meant to be a 2-3 day stay turned into 10 days.
Once discharged I spent one week up in Whangarei / Hikurangi for recovery.
I was well looked after by my favourite nurses who removed my staples and changed my dressing daily.

9 weeks post op and it has been one long road to recovery … but also trying to listen to my body my mind and my spirit.
However taking it one day at a time …
To Be Continued ….

There’s a kind of strength that comes from being in a room with people who just get it.

It’s Our Taime is our time to pause, connect, talanoa, listen and look after each other. Because the cancer journey doesn’t end when treatment does. Some are still walking through it and some are finding their way forward. Because when you’ve been through cancer, you know the power of having people who show up... and we’ll keep showing up for each other 🫶🏽

Today we shared wonderful memories of our sister Valu. Join us in keeping our Poliko family in prayer 🫂

We also announced #PolyPeaches and look forward to this programme that supports the Pasifika Uterine Cancer community. Lesssgo @ahlena16 @__idalene__ @lifesapeachnz

Fakaaue lahi @cancersocietyauckland and @percy.nz for walking with us. We appreciate you.
