On Tuesday, I had the privilege of speaking as the Global Youth Ambassador of Theirworld at the African First Ladies high-level dinner organized by Theirworld and OAFLAD. During my speech, I emphasized the importance of youth mobilization in early childhood development. As someone from Africa, I believe it’s crucial to involve more young people in early years development to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table.

I also highlighted the significance of the #actforearlycampaign led by Theirworld and how young people worldwide are uniting to urge world leaders, policymakers, and young change-makers to advocate for and invest in the education of young learners.

Furthermore, I stressed the need to achieve gender equality through this process. Functional early childhood institutions would allow women to return to the workforce, significantly improving economic growth as more women contribute to the economy.

I had the opportunity to hear the First Lady of Sierra Leone, H.E Fatima Maada Bio speak about her efforts to end child marriage, promote gender equality, and give women a voice, all while fighting for the future of the next generation of young leaders.

The First Lady of Zanzibar also highlighted the tremendous work her foundation is doing to address stunting and malnutrition. She mentioned her work in creating reusable pads for young girls to ensure they have a safe period without shame. Additionally, she outlined her plans to create centers for women who have experienced abuse, providing rehabilitation and training to help them reintegrate into society.

During my speech, I also highlighted the work of the First Lady of Nigeria, H.E. Sen Oluremi Tinubu, and her Renewed Hope Initiative, which provides every child with an identity through a birth registration program. This is a crucial step towards ensuring adequate progress in early years development, as it allows us to document and gather data to help address issues affecting children and women in their early years…….

I had the honor of attending the high-level dinner “Educating for the Next Generation.”

The networking session was the highlight for me as I had the opportunity to discuss early childhood development with dignitaries from across Africa and beyond. These individuals are not only willing to take new steps but also involve youth in the process, particularly at the grassroots level.

I had an extensive discussion with Dr. Lynette Okengo, the executive director of @af_ecn , about the need to increase youth participation in advocating for early childhood development while highlighting the work we do @mciinitiative.

The event began with an engaging opening speech by the Prime Minister of Barbados, who emphasized the need for increased investment in education, particularly in the foundational years. The emphasis was on the collective responsibility of everyone, not just the government, to take action. This set the stage for the panel session, which featured the President of the World Bank, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, and the Executive Director of UNICEF and @andrsreis. The panel was moderated by Gordon Brown, the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, World Health Organization Ambassador for Global Health Financing, and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The panel discussion further emphasized the need for increased investment in education.

I also had the privilege of meeting with the President and First Lady of Sierra Leone, who have been working to end child marriage.

During the event, I had the honor of presenting the “Unlock the Big Change” award to the First Lady of Paraguay @letiocampos for her excellent contributions to and work in advancing early childhood development in Paraguay.
