On view now in the Feldman lobby is “Art From Art History”, the exhibition curated by our graduating AHMP seniors in their final semester. For this display, students selected work from FIT’s Luxury in the Indigenous Americas course, HA 323, and wove together a narrative that exemplifies the work of the artists as well as the Indigenous sources. The exhibit will remain open until May 12, and contains several forms of drawing, sculpture, and textile works. Congrats to our AHMP graduates! This week, AHMP paid a visit to the @themuseumofmodernart ‘s retrospective exhibit on Marcel Duchamp, an artist who had a heavy hand in many of the art “-isms” we study today. Originals and several recreations of his most famous works can be found within the gallery; including “Nude Descending a Staircase”, “Fountain”, “L.H.O.O.Q.”, and an entire space filled with his mini-museums! Today we were visited by Thomas E. Slade, retired Director of Security at the American Museum of Natural History! He shared his vast experience in museum risk assessment, and gave insight to AHMP students on the inner workings of countermeasures taken by many museums to ensure the safety of visitors and collections. His best advice: never a dull moment working in a museum!
