Hola Austin mycelium🍄‍🟫 Join us this Sunday for the POTLUCK PUPPET PERFORMANCE “Sustenance” culmination of our 20 day residency with @dorf_world

We’re collaborating with San Antonio based @ahuiani_mami and Houston based @_koomah_ alongside Kitchen Table @kill.joy.land for “Sustenance”, a potluck and an immersive, interactive ritual featuring large puppets, song, dance, and performance.

Drawing on the spoon as a symbol for sustenance and collective care, the performance asks what it means to nourish one another- materially, emotionally, creatively and politically. The audience is invited to bring a dish to share, to accompany Kitchen Table @reboprints mama-made pozole, becoming participants in a communal gathering where food and performance become shared acts of nourishment and connection.

See you on Sunday for our Kitchen Table x @dorf_world potluck and show 🤲🏽

🌽Laura Yohualtlahuiz and Made Tariakuri will share danza, land based teachings and being of service through “tequio” with activities throughout the ceremony featuring corn husk dragonflies, cacao grinding and a children-led danza.

The ancestors and teotls were summoned with the songs of ceremony and they responded. We were in the path of the storm and then we became the storm.

Tlazohcamati @ayolopaktzin and @illhuikayotl for creating space and sharing your medicine.

We are thrilled to have finished out our first year in business but we are more excited to start our second year with so much support, love and community!! Big changes and new opportunities are coming to River Alchemy and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome our newest co-owner Laura Yohualtlahuiz!!
Laura Yohualtlahuiz is a 2 Spirit Mexican-born Xicana Matriarch of Tepehuan, Guachichil & mixed lineage, initiated by elders, family lineage & Traditional Keepers as Culture Bearer, Bgirl (breakdancer), Mexica-Chichimeca (Aztec) dancer & Yoga Nidra instructor. They are an anti-disciplinary artist whose artistic explorations include multimedia offerings, cultural organizing, and immersive performance art making that disrupts colonial narratives. Their work is an intervention to dominant narratives and braids narratives of collective liberation through storytelling workshops and community rituals. Their Afro-Indigenous futurist lens centers an artistic practice that transcends mediums and heals the collective soul wound. Laura Yohualtlahuiz’s vision as an artist is guided by the Zapatista movement’s definition of artists as “cultural warriors". Their interdisciplinary and performance based work is a testament of Indigenous art as a living legacy respectfully embracing Tradition while embodying liberation as the foundation of resistance and revolution. Celebrating Indigenous identity, documenting struggle, and proposing a world where the sacredness of our interconnectedness is the center of all our relations, expressions, and interventions is at the root of their art making pedagogy. taken in River Alchemy of Creative Arts by @ahuiani_mami
