What happens when technology moves faster than fashion? That was one of the big questions at this year’s Chicago Fashion Summit. Hosted by the Apparel Industry Board, the event brought together designers, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss the future of fashion. From artificial intelligence to sustainability, the conversations went well beyond the runway. One discussion that stood out came from Maya Leeb, founder of Carmeleon, who raised concerns about AI-generated product images misrepresenting fabrics and contributing to returns. Sustainability was another important conversation, challenging the industry to think about its environmental impact, responsible production, and what meaningful progress actually looks like. And a personal highlight? Meeting legendary fashion designer Elie Tahari. My biggest takeaway? Fashion’s future isn’t just about innovation. It’s about balancing technology, sustainability, creativity, and craftsmanship. And I love seeing Chicago at the center of these conversations. I enjoyed leading a one-on-one conversation with legendary designer @cd.greene at the Chicago Fashion Summit hosted by @aibichicago Known for his beautiful couture designs for icons including Tina Turner, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, CD had so much to share about his career and the work behind the garments. We talked about AI, technology, fast fashion and what it takes to create something exceptional. I wanted to explore how the industry is changing and why craftsmanship still matters.
