POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Upcoming: When The World Enters Your Home is a upcoming solo by T.V. Santhosh at Aicon Contemporary, opening November 4th, 2026. The show will be on view from November 4th 2026 to December 12th, 2026.

T.V. Santhosh is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice examines violence, conflict, politics and the manipulation of imagery through mass media. Trained initially in Painting at Kala Bhavana, Vishwa Bharati, Santiniketan, he later earned a Master’s degree in Sculpture from M.S. University, Baroda. Working across painting, sculpture and installation, Santhosh frequently draws from news photography and popular visual culture, transforming contemporary events into psychologically charged, politically reflective works.

Santhosh has exhibited extensively at major international institutions and biennales and we are so excited to present his first solo exhibition with Aicon Contemporary, in collaboration with The Guild @theguildartgallery. taken in Aicon Contemporary by @aiconcontemporary

Aicon Contemporary is staying at 35 Great Jones Street, our beloved home in NoHo. A space steeped in history and a block where many great galleries have joined us, since our pioneering move in 2008.

On November 12th we’ll be back @artmumbaiofficial, bringing non-Indian art to Indian collectors and institutions. At the just concluded @thearmoryshow 2026 in New York, we presented and placed work by 12 artists from South Asia and the Middle East with new Western collectors. For many of them, their first ever acquisitions of non-western art!

In the past year our artists have appeared in museum exhibitions, biennales, major publications, and in the press, while our collector community has grown increasingly global and diverse. We’ve built new ways for artists and collectors to connect, from exhibitions and fairs to our Artist x Collector speaker series.

Taconic Arts Center, our sister institution is taking shape as a new home for long-term exhibitions and artist residencies in the bucolic Hudson Valley. And in India — always part of our story — Two1Two Arts will serve as our outpost, making the bridge between our two homes a stronger one.

We are staying put, and going places

Mahatma Gandhi was a long standing muse of M. F. Husain. In 1983 he painted Untitled (After "Gandhi" or the Attenborough Panels). It was a six panel painting capturing Gandhi's adult life, from South Africa to his assassination by the Hindu Nationalist Nathuram Godse. The second of six panels, depicted here, shows Gandhi setting off on the Dandi March to protest the salt tax levied by the British colonial government.

We are so pleased to present Priyantha Udagedara's second solo exhibition at Aicon Contemporary Upcoming: Earthly Paradise, opening on November 4th, 2026. The show will be on view from November 4th 2026 to December 12th, 2026.

Udagedara's work explores themes of colonial history, cultural memory, and the relationship between nature and human intervention. His art often delves into the complexities of postcolonial identity, using nature as a symbolic medium to address the lingering impacts of colonialism while celebrating the resilience and beauty of the natural world.

He has a PHD in Philosophy in Contemporary Fine Art Practice, as well as a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Art and Design Practice from the Faculty of Arts and Design, Leeds Metropolitan University.

We are very excited to welcome him back!

@gr_iranna (b.1970) crowd-stopping installation at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2019, Naavu (We Together) which which was a metaphor for Gandhi’s bringing India together, and documented hundreds of lives through small gestures crafted onto wooden sandals called Padukas, was conceived and executed for the first time in G. R. Iranna’s solo exhibition at Aicon, “Tempered Branches”. That thoughtfully crafted corner of our gallery, was the dress rehearsal for an appearance at the contemporary art world’s biggest stage.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
Mahatma Gandhi
Born today’s date, in 1869.
Still inspiring art and artists, everywhere.
@aiconcontemporary has a specially strong relationship with Gandhi, having curated several exhibitions celebrating his inclusive politics, when that is very needed.

@abiroctober (b.1977, Siliguri, India) crafts the monumental from the mundane. Painting scenes from the domestic to the outside world, Karmakar’s wide-ranging style captures the subtleties of everyday life. The artist’s recent work has transformed with the passage of time, the gaze shifting from inward to out. This piece is from his 2007 solo exhibition at Aicon Gallery titled "In The Old Fashioned Way".

Our final artist who will complete our presentation at The Armory Show 2026 @thearmoryshow is a special one - G. R. Iranna (b. 1970, Karnataka, India)

G. R. Iranna’s early life was shaped by formative years spent studying in a gurukul and residing in an ashram for nearly seven years. These experiences underpin his enduring engagement with spiritual inquiry, cultural memory, and the dualities inherent in human existence. His work seeks to translate an interior, meditative landscape onto tactile surfaces, often drawing upon visual languages associated with Buddhist art. Although Iranna began his career working primarily in oil on canvas, he later adopted tarpaulin as a principal medium, embracing its material resonance and symbolic associations.

Iranna’s work was exhibited at the 58th Venice Biennale and is held in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Singapore Art Museum, and the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, among others. Iranna has presented six solo exhibitions with Aicon Contemporary since 2006 and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. Iranna lives and works in New Delhi, India.

We are thrilled to have him join us at The Armory Show and cannot wait to share his work with audiences in New York. We hope to see you there!

Ruby Chishti (b.1963 Pakistan) produces art that investigates migration, Islamic myths, gender politics, and memory, as well as the universal themes of love, loss, and humanity.

In her solo at Aicon Contemporary “The World is a Loose Stitch” (2024) she revived her cloth women doing everyday chores, wearing ornate helmets, a signifier of their strength. Chishti affectionately refers to these figures as her “everyday warriors.” This piece, Beyond Masters II, is inspired by the famous Luican Freud series, “Benefits Supervisor”.
