Well... Friday was emotional 🥹💐🙏🎭

Last Friday, I finally premiered 'BALLGAMES' to an audience for the very first time aside a work-in-progress in the opening performance of Hull Truck's GROW Festival... I'm still riding the high. I'm still processing all the feelings. But mainly, I'm still in disbelief at how lucky I feel to have had an amazing audience filling up the house - thank you all for the beautiful feedback 🥹

What started off as a little idea in my head and no idea how to get there, became nearly a year working on getting this play to where it is, which has genuinely been one of the biggest pleasures of my career to date (even if it did stress me out no end 😂), and I can't wait to go on the rest of this crazy 'BALLGAMES' journey.

Firstly, thank you to everybody who came to see the show and for the incomprehensible feedback. Every gorgeous word, comment, message, email... it all truly means the world to me 🤍

On a personal note, some very special thank yous:

Firstly, to the incomparable Cerys Burke who answered a DM one day asking if she could help me get my project out of my messy wee head and into a tangible idea and bid. A one of a kind Access Support Worker 💐

Secondly, to Nathaniel J Hall, who helped draw this story out of me in a beautiful and nurturing way, and instilling a confidence in me that I can move forward with in making solo work 🌈

Thirdly, to Matt of Middle Child for his unique eye and insight on making 'BALLGAMES' as audience-ready as it could be for last week ✨️

And of course, to Rabs, who directed me over 4 days and brought my vision to life with humour, passion and, at times, necessary doses of tough love 🥰 Blimmin' love ya!

Also to my nearest and dearest (you know who you are), thank you for the constant check-ins, encouragement and love, especially when I've not felt capable of the challenge of spending 75 minutes alone onstage. You are my rock and I loves ya 💙

I will always cherish this last year of discovering 'BALLGAMES' and can't wait for what's next with it... Because this isn't game, set and match. Really, this is just the starting whistle 🤪🏀⚽️

⚾️🏀 THE BALL IS ROLLING ⚽️🏐

Last year, I became a very lucky recipient in the most competitive round of Arts Council England 'Developing Your Creative Practice' grants ever, on the premise that I would develop my debut solo-show to share in 2026.

A lot of blood, sweat, tears, stress, anxiety, imposter syndrome and sleepless nights later, I am enormously proud to share that I have indeed written a show which I will be performing in its first work-in-progress sharing next month! Woo 🥳

BALLGAMES is my debut solo-show, about masculinity, morals, faith, and having the balls to do the right thing, even if that means doing the wrong thing. In it, we follow a PE Teacher through awkward proms, sports changing room drama, faith school politics, Jesus and his banging bod, harnesses, and a life or death situation, which challenges the messy gap between policy and compassion...

I'm also thrilled that BALLGAMES will be seen for the first time at @hulltruck #GrowFestival2026. Debuting this show in my hometown is such a full circle moment.

Developing this show wouldn't have been possible without the generosity and support from some amazing artists from and within @royalcourttheatre , @middlechildhull , my out-of-this-world mentor @nathanieljhall and my gorgeous director @rabbeyinyorkshire and my incomparable Access Support Worker @cerys_burke I am immeasurably grateful for all their efforts 🤍🌈

✨️ 18-19 JULY 2026 ✨️
For the second year in a row, I'm late to the party 😂 But I think I've finally come down (a bit) from Middle Child Theatre's third and biggest instalment of FRESH INK yet. What a special weekend!

From having my first piece performed last year, to being commissioned to go back this year has been a big dream come true and I'm so excited to see the journey this play goes on next 😍

'Kayfabe Babe' is a really special piece to me. Set in the bonkers, larger-than-life world of pro-wrestling, it's also just funny Northern people doing their best to get by in modern Britain. As a lifelong wrestling fan, I feel so lucky that I got to geek out to my passion in my first ever commission as a playwright and in my hometown. Doesn't get more full circle really, does it? ⭕️

To everybody who watched and text, emailed and verbalised lovely feedback on 'Kayfabe Babe', THANK YOU! It always feels surreal to hear, and each and every "I loved it" and "What happens next?!" means the world 🤍

I want to say the biggest thank you to @middlechildhull for their belief, generosity and unwavering support. No words do justice, they really don't 🥰

And a HUUUGE congratulations to each and every writer, performer, director, facilitator, speaker, venue manager, team member and volunteer on a truly stellar weekend!! Can't wait for 2027's instalment 😍🤓

Here's hoping that the match is far from over for 'Kayfabe Babe'. I certainly am not ready to call for the bell just yet! 🤞🤪🤼‍♀️

Middle Child Theatre presented FRESH INK, the 2nd ever instalment of this bold, brave, unique new writing festival

Am I late to the party? Yeah, probs a bit. But truthfully, I still haven't processed what a special and exciting weekend it was. The best weekend of my year! Two weeks on and I'm still getting messages about my piece, 'Hear Lies...' and I am so grateful for and overwhelmed by each and every one of them, as well as all of the super lovely thoughts and comments it got over that weekend, not to mention people piping up to tell me about it cropping up in other chats here, there and everywhere, so thank you so, so, soooo much. It means the world 🥹🤍 Massive congratulations to ALL the writers, performers, directors and creatives for pulling off such an inspiring and important weekend for our struggling industry, making space for it to thrive in my hometown of Hull 💙

On a personal note...

Thank you @middlechildhull for the immeasurable support and allowing me this crucial opportunity to develop through your Writers Group. With @freshinkhull, you once again proved that when it comes to the arts and culture in the north, you are nothing short of the benchmark.

'Hear Lies...' was directed by the incomparable, creative powerhouse that is @rachaelclareabbey. Thank you for showing the piece such care, warmth and humour. I was so lucky to have you 🥰

Cast-wise, I had an absolute DREAM of a cast in @sophieclay91 and @kate.kay.31 who realised the characters and world I wanted to create so beautifully and sensitively with such detail, emotion and fun. I lost count of how often I told you but I genuinely couldn't have cast it better if I tried. You were both breath-taking 🙏❤️

Also a big thank you to all of my loved ones that turned out (over a very wet weekend 🌧) to come and support too.

So... the question is: "What Now?"

Well... I'm delighted to share there is big, exciting news coming over the next couple of weeks. Watch this space..... 🤪 Eek!

Nothing short of an absolute delight playing ENI in Zahra Jassi's hilarious, parodic, footbally piece, 'FOUR INCELS', performed in a dream space of a theatre, @royalcourttheatre the other day. Part of an incredible event 'Court's In Session', produced flawlessly by Phoebe Coop (absolute Northern legend and debut producer! 💪 - thank you so much for this opportunity, I will always treasure this memory ❤️). It was an honour to work with our brilliant, encouraging director Ollie Harrington and to share the stage with such giving, talented creatives: James Wilson, Ailsa Dann, Branson Rideux and Zahra Jassi herself. Bringing Eni to life as the gloriously obnoxious idiot he is was such a joy and never did I think an England shirt and a dustcloth bandana would go so well together. Watch this space on this fab piece 👀

Throwback to that time I was an eccentric travel agent who really likes his job almost as much as he likes policies, dressing like a TUI mascot and Madonna. He only graced the stage for 4 minutes (also a song featuring Madonna), but a genuine pleasure to play Justin last year in 'Growth' by Luke Norris (a man I got to meet at @nationaltheatre the week before the show after watching #TheNormalHeart)

Well...last night was a bit of a pinch me moment, as I made my debut on @itv @coronationstreet's famous cobbles as CONOR GORMAN, with an eye on stealing Kelly from old foe, Maria, to work for him... hmmmm 😏🤭

Thank you for all of the support and kind words I have received since the episode aired last night. Special thanks to all that made this happen - my agent, the Corrie Team, Gennie Radcliffe and casting team, and of course my incomporable scene partners!

Over the moon to have been a part of this incredible episode of #Corrie. For now though, Conor has slithered back to the Northern Quarter 😜 Secret's finally out. Forever grateful. Dreams do come true ❤
