Our recent adventure in Morocco turned out very differently to what we had planned or imagined…

What started as an exciting hiking trip with @kandooinsta to climb North Africa’s highest peak Mount Toubkal, quickly became one of the most challenging experiences I’ve ever faced🏔️

The route and terrain was stunning but demanding, as the first day went on, things began to unravel in ways that none of us could have predicted. Unfortunately, a number of serious failures occurred during the trip, which affected not only our group’s safety and wellbeing but also overall experience.

This ultimately meant that myself, @katie_sainsbury and 4 others of our party weren’t able to complete the full hike and ascend Mount Toubkal.

For weeks over the summer wildfires were burning everywhere across South Wales. Including one just above my hometown of Blaenavon, scorching over 200 hectares across Mynydd Garnclochdy, destroying the grazing land, wildlife habitat and god knows how many animals❤️‍🩹

The local farmers, fire services and community pulled together. But after assessing the long-term damage, greater action on wildfire prevention and land management really needs to be prioritised to protect from future fires. by @aimoutside
