Step into a time-honoured Chinese nature tradition this Sunday at Peck Road Water Conservation Park in collaboration with @regenerativecollective

Despite the vast ocean separating Chinese American communities from our old home (老家), we can still find cousins of Chinese native plants in California! Some of which live in the very park we'll be visiting!

Come learn about native plants and stay for the Chóng Yáng cake prepared by @bo.baked, chrysanthemum tea, and a free sachet making activity using tea bags. Traditional Chinese hebao sachet available for $5.

To RSVP please text 626-515-4833.

See you at the park! taken in Peck Road Water Conservation Park by @ainicalifornia

Thank you @thesundayjump for having us at your monthly Sunday program at Unidad Park in HiFi ❤️

Following the yoga session by @flowfeelingsclub , we talked about the importance of native plants to our ecological neighborhood. We put our pruners to work on stem propagation and all the left over Pozo Blue Sage leaves were upcycled into sachets!🍃

Rooted golden bush cuttings from the @catalystsgv Garvey Intermediate School garden got potted up for new homes alongside baby mugwort and evening primrose seedlings 🌱

With all the ecological destruction happening around us, I hope propagation workshops can help remind us that we CAN still restore our biosphere.. one neighborhood at a time. taken in Unidad Park by @ainicalifornia

That's a wrap on our summer gardening series with @littletokyocfm ! 🌱

For four Saturdays, our nursery pop-up took over Little Tokyo. We got our hands in the soil potting up veggie seedlings, starting seeds, and learning every step of stem cutting propagation. Along the way, we talked about how native plants support local wildlife and why interdependence is at the heart of a healthy garden ☘️

My goal with all that hands-in-soil time was to get folks excited about propagating their own plants, so we become producers for our community, not only consumers of nurseries.

Huge thanks to @foodaccessla for making this series possible 🫰

If you've seen our sachet activity table, here's why we do it!

Chinese sachets originated as practical utility pouches over 3,000 years ago, later taking on medicinal and spiritual roles, used to repel mosquitoes and ward off evil spirits, especially during the Dragon Boat Festival.

To support our free native plant distribution, donate $15 in-person at our tabling events and take home a traditional-style sachet bag to hold the free native plant tea sachet you made. We'll also have slips of paper for you to write a poem, a wish or a love letter! taken in Planet Earth by @ainicalifornia
