Another Dealer Days in the books here in Montrose, Colorado.

Last week, we welcomed fly shops, industry friends, and partners from across the country back to our home at Mayfly Outdoors. A few days filled with familiar faces, new friendships, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of fly fishing.

From the factory floor to the water, our dealers got a firsthand look at the people and processes behind the brands they carry. We spent time building reels, repairing product, sharing stories, and putting a little friendly competition into the mix with casting and fly tying challenges. And somewhere between all of that, we found plenty of time to just hang out and enjoy being together.

That’s what makes Dealer Days special to us. It’s not just about showing off what’s new or walking through the factory. It’s about connecting the people who build product across the industry with the people who put them in anglers’ hands every day. The relationships, conversations, and friendships that come out of these few days are what make this industry so special.

To the dealers who traveled near and far, our partners who helped bring the event to life, and our entire team who put in the work behind the scenes, thank you.

We’re fortunate to work alongside people who care as much about fly fishing and this community as we do. Until next time!

The stick that throws the 🥩

CARGO - big streamers aren’t exactly known for being easy to cast. The CARGO has the backbone to throw the big stuff, turn over heavy lines, and put a fly exactly where you want it.

Dig the waders back out, throw an extra layer on, and tie on the meat. Fall is here, time to find the one that wants a big snack.

Been still water fishing a lot this season and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s a lot of hours looking/ working/ casting for a fish but when you get into them it’s always a “wow” moment. I honestly can’t get enough of it. Book a lake trip with me sometime. I think I can turn you into a stillwater junkie too.

Earlier in August, we sent it south for the @themayanpermit tournament with @the_xflats in Xcalak, Mexico. 🇲🇽

Permit were obviously on the brain, and they definitely had other plans, that’s for sure. A few days of staring down nervous water, convincing ourselves it could happen, and getting a pretty good reminder of why we call them black-tailed devils. No permit for our crew this time around, but there were tarpon hooked, jumped and released, plenty of bonefish, a few jacks cruising through, and enough close calls to keep the heart pounding. That’s permit fishing.

Although Team Airflo’s @justinwcarr did have one come up and try to eat his floating crab… but that story deserves a post of its own. More on that one later.

Still, it’s hard to complain about a few days in Xcalak. We fished hard, put some product through its paces, caught up with good people in the industry and met a few new ones along the way. And while everyone comes down hoping to put a permit in the boat, the tournament manages to leave something behind too. This year, funds raised through the event are helping rebuild portions of the church in Xcalak, a small community where fishing and guiding are a major part of the local economy.

Pretty cool to see a bunch of people who come down here to chase fish give a little something back to the place that makes it possible. Shoutout to @jesse_colten, the entire crew at @the_xflats, @rileynestlerode, and @kidcolt1987, and all the sponsors. Thank you!
