This week is 4 years since my wife Jones passed away. We met in 2012 when I sat next to her at a shift meeting at a restaurant we worked at and I said “I like your shoes” In the years that followed we had children, got married, moved across the country a few times, and through all that life could muster to throw at us she was always unapologetically herself, she was always the brightest light in a room, and she had laughter and warmth that could make the heaviness of life seem to evaporate the very rain itself before it touched the ground. She constantly inspired me to be the best version of myself I could be, and she still does, not an hour passes in a day that I don’t think of her.

Two days after Jones passed I got a call that Uncle Dudley had passed, at that point I was still so numb with grief it didn’t really register. My Uncle was larger than life, he was the best skier I’d ever met, he told me when I was learning “if you aren’t falling; you aren’t learning.” He would spend time riding motorcycles across the country, and would disappear into the wilderness through hiking and always had some unconventional wisdom only someone that spent an unconventional life could have.

A year later we lost my Grandma Mimi, she had a quick wit and a sweet tooth. When I was a kid I would say she was a “very fancy lady.” She taught me to keep my elbows off the table, to take care of myself and to try to present myself with poise. I’m sorry about that Mimi, I am kind of a slob.

I’m not writing this for sympathy, but just sharing a little sliver of my story and my journey with grief. I started making these videos in the wake of loss that was left after my wife Jones died. These videos became, in a way, an open journal of my journey with grief. Grief makes you feel isolated and alone, and though grief is grey, I’ve learned the color comes back to into life, even if it’s never the same hue. I’ve found a lot of healing over the past 4 years, I’ve learned Im allowed to be happy again and that there is still beauty and love to be found in this strange life. I was lucky enough to be invited to San Diego comic-con by @theringsofpower for season 3 and was able to meet some incredible folks and spend some time with some good friends in the Tolkien sphere.

It was a whirlwind of a trip but I made some memories that will last a lifetime and I feel incredibly lucky for the opportunity to have been able to be a part of it.

I got a lot more pictures to share but thanks to everyone and thanks to everyone here that has been watching my silly videos the last few years and to everyone I met there that said my videos have made an impact in their life. Love you
