Oh yeah, fine motor skills at their finest. 🤌 When someone asks what these fingers can do, I just smile and say "nothing but the best work in aviation." 😏 They can get a nut onto a bolt in the tightest, most awkward spots, by feel, in the dark, with zero room to spare.

Patient, precise, and I never rush the torque. 😉

It's funny how life works. You work hard, you get more work. You're good at it, you get the harder jobs. I personally enjoy it, since I'm not a slacker, so more work and tougher projects are always a good challenge. It works the other way too: the ones who do less never get trusted with the hard stuff. Oh well, haha.

And yes, the PW1000 series is unreliable. It's known worldwide, it's not a secret, and it keeps us busy. So when you're stuck at the gate a little longer than planned, don't shoot the messenger. We're the ones trying to get everyone going, just not you.

Swiss Air Force Mirage III fighters in one of the many hardened, underground complexes operated by the Swiss armed forces during the Cold War. With their entire national strategy based on defense, the Swiss went to great lengths to capitalize on the advantages their geography provided them. Extensive storage and maintenance facilities for all sorts of weapons systems were dug into the mountains throughout the country. Had an opponent ever invaded, they would have found it very difficult to root out the Swiss defenders and destroy their equipment.

Shift work in aviation is always fun. Except the night shift, working during holidays and long hours. I guess it's not that fun after all. 😅

But a schedule like the 4-5-5 is great: lots of days off and longer vacations to travel the world. The trade-off is long hours and half of the weekend gone. You can find Monday to Friday jobs in aviation, but it's not for me. Always nice to go to Costco on a Wednesday morning with the boomers. 😆

For this maintenance reel: Boeing 737, cockpit window #2 (sliding) replacement.

Before you start commenting, this is for entertainment only. You won't see every step of the window rigging. If you're lucky, the new window fits nicely with no big issues. With my luck, I usually end up rigging everything, haha. Maybe I just hold myself to a higher standard by following the AMM.

Today's maintenance reel: opening and closing the Boeing 737 radome.
I know, there's no fancy latch. But you almost never open it, so it's not a big deal. This time we had to get inside for an inspection after a bird strike.

The process: 16 bolts, a bit of muscle power and 2 support rods. Simple, but not exactly easy. It's the same design they've been using since the 60s.
