This was a birthday gift from a dear dear friend in California. It’s a book that I had heard about but never got around the buying. I’m more of a fiction girlie but @rickrubin is literally one of THE most prolific creators on the planet so I’m glad I got this book as a gift. I started flipping through it (don’t have time to read it fully, yet) and there are nuggets embedded everywhere.

You should get this book.

I’m so proud of this kid. I’m so proud of all of my kids! I’m grateful to be able to celebrate turning 50 with my friends and family and to have my oldest son say these words.

When it’s all said and done, it’s the people closest to you and how you made them feel that will matter the most.

My heart is truly full ♥️♥️

I’m 50! 🎉🥳🔥🕊️♥️🙏🏾

Two profound pieces of the Word are sitting beautifully in my heart this morning: Galatians 5:22-23 and Matthew 7:20. The first talks about the fruits of the Holy Spirit and the second says that you will be able to decipher people by their fruit. I’ve been in awe by what these two sets of verses illustrate in my life! Today and throughout this weekend, a number of my family and dearest friends are coming to Barcelona to celebrate this new milestone with me. I am floored by the love and support from my community. My relationships are the manifestation of my fruit. My people are the very best of them. I’m so thankful to them!

The beginning of one thing is often the end of another. Sometimes firsts’ coincide with lasts’. This summer was one for the history books for me. Two of my boys were “promoted” and are now in middle school and high school. I have officially ended my elementary school mom life for good!! My oldest has begun his process of preparing for college applications. This summer was our first as European residents and the last in my 40s. I can’t believe that in a matter of days I will be 50. I am filled with both gratitude and shock. While it feels like it’s taken forever to get here, I remember my 30th birthday party in NYC like it was yesterday!

This summer has been exactly everything that I could have wished/ hoped/prayed for! Surrounded by friends and family in some of the most beautiful places in the world! It’s been 50 beautiful years of gratitude, grace, and growth ✨

I’m so excited to see what the next few months will bring. I’ve asked God to shock me with His waymaking. Let’s watch and see ✨

I went to a party the other day and the moral of the story is that I will be sharing (or attempting to) share my burgeoning artistic talent more on social media. While I firmly believe in the benefits of psychotherapy, painting has brought me a world of healing and such an immense level of mental clarity. Honestly, creating with your hands is one of the most gratifying things someone who built her career on what’s in her mind can do!

So, yes, I’m a corporate bada$$ sitting on corporate boards but I also pursue creative endeavors and it’s my goal to expand both aspects of my portfolio life!

I’m a whole ARTIST, y’all‼️

I sold my first painting and I am completely geeked to know that the work of my hands will go out into the world and live, breathe, evoke, emote, thrill, and inspire beyond me in France 🇫🇷

I met Fatou @iamfatou at an event the other night at @sohohouse and we quickly discovered that we have a ton in common including our love of Africa and art‼️

It turns out that she just bought a house in Auvers-sur-Oise, France that will be turned into an artists residency/sanctuary. 📌 Fun fact, this is the same village that Vincent Van Gogh created his last collections before his death.

So…… My little baby piece will be hanging somewhere close to where Van Gogh was painting 🙆🏽‍♀️🤯🙆🏽‍♀️🫪🥳🎉🔥♥️🪩

As I said, I am now an artist. A proper one. Art is not just play anymore and that is both thrilling and scary‼️
