This is Coco.

As we speak, he is snuggled up against my chest, his favorite way to exist. The lesser known pup in our lives, he is Sammy’s annoying little brother — in 2018, we fostered this little guy in LA after he was reportedly found in a park playing with children. Classic Coco. My parents adopted him, and he’s been ours part time ever since.

Very long text blocks in the pictures. He deserves the spotlight because he’s the sweetest. And I’d like for people to know him in all his glory while he’s still our happy little dude. It will also set the stage for future anticipatory grief or perhaps explain why Alan and I might look wiped or be MIA. by @aiyoitsalan

So Headlights and Breakdowns is officially out and available for people to hear. I learned a lot from this one. It takes a lot of love to take a song from just a silly thing written down to here and there’s a lot of things in this recording that I’m really proud of. 4/2008 - 8/2025

Sammy. My girl, my girl, my baby girl.

I miss you so much. I missed you every day even when you were here and I’ll miss you so much every single day now that you’re gone.

This grief makes me want to crawl out of my skin and scream. The silence of this home without your clickyclack paws, the swing of the dog door, or your snores and sleep yips is deafening. To know that I will not kiss your head between your eyes, to rub your ears again, or have you lean your body against mine is crippling. Who will I share every meal and snack with? You always knew you would get a piece or five. Oh my Sammy, our roommate, our baobei, our best friend.

Alan and I had 17 wonderful years with you and we knew we could not ask for more. You fought so hard this last week. You were so immensely resilient and strong in ways that I truly cannot comprehend. I sincerely don’t know how you did it. Thank you for trying to stay with us. Please know how much we fought to keep us all together but moreso how much we love you and thus knew you deserved more. We have only ever wanted the best for you and for you to be happy. You made us so happy every single day.

You are the light of our lives. We pray for your safe passage and that your eternal self is one that encompasses every piece of you. Every phase, every age, and the different quirks and desires those brought with you. You are a summation of every perfect silly version of you you’ve ever been.

We wish for you all the snacks and human food you can eat. All the quesadillas, burritos, steaks, and dino nuggies your tumtum desires. We wish that you run and sniff all you want, as long as you want, to find hidden food stashed in bushes. We hope you desire to jump up and play tug of war like you used to. We hope your legs are strong so you can play in water, kick up clods of grass for fun, and do a biiig stretch. That you regain your chunky body and butt so you can sleep on your back like you loved to. That you have an abundance of Gary the Gators and Hexapus toys, bobble treats, donut beds, and pillows—you loved pillows and had such a knack for understanding how to use them. —-(Continued in comments) by @aiyoitsalan

An absolutely beloved regular presence on the mic at our open mic, Alan Lin will be sharing a full set with us for Make Music Day and we're so so happy about it.

Alan Lin is a middle aged man with poor mental health. Despite this, he attempts to build community through the shared experience of art and live music. As a local singer songwriter, he blends his struggles with identity and fitting into the isolation of contemporary society with the sonic aesthetic of guitar driven pop punk and emo music.
