If you’ve ever worked in a service industry, you know.

I’ve worked in the medical field, as a veterinary technician, in luxury retail, and now as an esthetician. Every one of those careers had one thing in common: spending my days pouring into other people while ignoring what my own body was trying to tell me.

Somewhere along the way, we started treating self-care like a luxury.

I don’t believe it is.

They say hurt people hurt people. But sometimes, hurt people become healers.

I’ve lived enough life to know that sometimes, what a woman needs goes beyond skincare.

I’ve lived through childhood trauma. I’ve left a domestic violence situation. I’ve learned how to manage life with multiple autoimmune diseases. I’ve had to start over, rebuild, and keep going more times than I ever expected.

And I think all of that has shaped the way I touch and care for the women who end up on my table.

You can get a facial anywhere. You can find hydrodermabrasion, LED therapy, enzymes, masks and beautiful skincare in a lot of treatment rooms.

But what I hope you feel in mine is the intention behind it.

The extra time I spend on the massage.
The way I pay attention to where you’re holding tension.
The quiet when you need quiet.
The care behind every step.

Because I know what it feels like to carry things no one else can see.

I know what it feels like to keep showing up when life has asked too much of you.

And maybe that’s why I put so much of myself into what I do.

I’m not here to pretend a facial can heal everything you’ve been through. But I do believe in the power of intentional touch, of being cared for, and of having one hour where you don’t have to hold everything together.

Yes, I want to change your skin.

But I also want you to leave my treatment room feeling a little lighter than when you walked in.

Maybe hurt people don’t always hurt people. Sometimes, they decide to create the softness they once needed.

Everybody wants a different life. Not everybody is willing to do what it takes to build one.

Motivation comes and goes. Discipline and consistency are what show up when you don’t feel like it.

Less complaining. More accountability. And absolutely zero energy for people who are all talk and no action. 💋

Not every Sunday looks like a fun day. 🤍

Sometimes it’s bringing your son along while you work, running errands, and spending the weekend building a life you’re still figuring out.

And as a single mom, the guilt creeps in. Because I know there are a million other things he’d probably rather be doing.

However, I hope one day he looks back at these little moments and realizes he wasn’t just tagging along.

He was watching his mom start over. Take chances. Chase dreams she once thought were out of reach. And slowly build a better life for both of us.

I hope he remembers that life doesn’t always go according to plan. That starting over isn’t failing. And that taking care of yourself, pursuing your happiness, and finding purpose in what you do aren’t selfish things. They’re part of building a life that’s genuinely fulfilling and sustainable.

I hope he sees me working hard, but also giving back. Building a business, but also building community. Creating a life where success isn’t just measured by what we have, but by what we contribute and how we make others feel along the way.

Because while I’m trying to give him a beautiful life, I’m also trying to show him how to build one for himself.

So no, this isn’t exactly a Sunday Funday. But maybe one day he’ll understand that some of our most ordinary Sundays were actually the ones where we were building something extraordinary.

There’s a difference between having your life change and choosing to change your life.

Some of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made were the ones that eventually brought me closer to myself.

I think that’s part of why I care so deeply about the experience I’ve created at AJ Skin Studio.

I know what it feels like to carry a lot.

So when you get on my table, I want you to have one place where you don’t have to.

Come for the skin. The glow. The massage. The results.
But stay for the 60 or 90 minutes where somebody else gets to take care of you.

I’m still building this business. I’m still building this life. I’m not afraid of how much work is ahead of me.

I know who’s building it. And I trust her.

People told me opening a studio without an established clientele was naive.

Maybe it was.

But I’ve spent most of my life believing in things I couldn’t see yet. I’ve been told what my body might not do by 40, walked away from a marriage, rebuilt from almost nothing, survived a drunk driver, and started over more than once.

Along the way, I stopped needing proof before I moved.

I learned to see the life first, then become the person capable of living it.

So when I opened AJ Skin Studio without a full book of clients, I wasn’t fearless. I just knew I’d survived bigger things than an empty appointment book.

I cleaned the room. I showed up. I kept learning, posting, and caring for every person who walked through the door.

Little by little, they kept coming.

I’m still becoming and still building, but now my name is on the door.

The proof was never waiting for me to find it.

It was waiting for me to become it. 🫶🏼

Success was never supposed to be just about what I could build for myself.

I want the people who walk into my treatment room to feel seen, cared for, safe, and a little lighter when they leave. I want to share what I’ve learned, support other women, and create the kind of space I once needed too.

Because at the end of all of this, I don’t want to be remembered for how busy I was, how many followers I had, or what I accomplished.

I want to be remembered for how I made people feel.
