A few details and moments in between from the @tennistshirts experience in New York during this year’s US Open. Elated by the love NY showed @mikecherman and me—and grateful to everyone who stopped by, spent time with us, and to @complex for hosting us in their SoHo flagship. Tennis T-shirts —a creative and product platform— was born from years of traveling to tournaments around the world, visiting the shops, and somehow always walking out empty-handed. As tennis obsessives and creative entrepreneurs, naturally we wanted to make something better. The sport deserves it. Built over many late nights with Michael. Tennis has been part of my world since I was a child with my dad telling me about Jimmy Connors before I understood the mythology of the sport. Building within it now feels full circle. On and off court work lately 🎾 At 11, I told my mother I wanted to quit tennis—unable to give myself permission to grow and get better. Reconnecting with the sport over the years has been a quiet unfolding, like the echo of a tennis ball through my childhood TV, a memory that has lingered throughout my childhood. Here’s to the tennis journey, then and now. Taking the Beta Jacket’s highly adaptable Gore-Tex hardshell to create a range of versatile looks for @arcteryx Converted from its original state, constructed, then styled - featuring a strapless, convertible dress. Swipe for a quick croquis I sketched as a response to the project brief which was meant to highlight the jacket’s multitalented nature. Croquis always bring me memories of Parsons, carrying a big ass portfolio case, and hating studio class. Ultimately I dropped out of Parsons due to first generational guilt and thoughts of what I “should” do career wise. I later found myself at NYU and though I didn’t graduate from fashion school I’m grateful that my path was always a clear one. Who else here has experienced first generational guilt? Story and Creative direction for Iced Tea @joycewrice, produced by @Kaytranada For years I had been dreaming about creating a cool and chic ode to Tarantino’s Kill Bill, a story about a skilled katana-wielding assassin seeking vengeance. She’s a little scary and I love it… with humor and blood splatter, mixed with the fantasy and allure of Michiko from one of my favorite anime “Michiko to Hatchin”. I wanted this to encapsulate the savagery of The Bride and Lady Snowblood, and the style and nostalgia of Michiko and Toni Braxton’s anime character from the intro of “He wasn’t man enough for me” whose character I love so much. @joycewrice Thank you for your continued trust and willingness to embark on a journey together; for immediately being open when I asked if you’d be down to take katana lessons. You are a real one. You are a star and I’m so proud of you! Enter @Kolten_jensen who I met on set many moons ago and provided great guidance with the katana, thank you.
