STUDIO BONE FOR JORDAN BRAND ~ Thank you to @jumpman23 and the superwomen crew. I’ve been hesitant to share work as there’s more important things happening in the world right now but I’d like to share a few insights gained from this just before we went into lockdown. This project was special to me in that the apparel collection, experience, and rollout was designed and produced entirely by women. And all the partners / businesses involved in this project were women-owned. We had the opportunity to ideate, plan and execute apparel customization for their women’s SP20 collection — offering personalization, patchwork, sewing & tailoring, and some “off the menu” one-off creations (my favorite). As someone who grew up in streetwear, working BTS for some years now, held roles at marketing agencies, consulted + freelanced, eventually starting my own business - I’ve put some time in to know what I find to be true for myself and other women in this industry. Unconscious bias, boundaries and conditioned thinking about gender is still rampant. Like how most team pep talks go down before a project goes live, my team discussed 1. our run of show 2. what we’re looking to accomplish 3. what brought us here and what our past experiences looked like. For some, those experiences included discriminatory pay practices, being marginalized and passed over, sexually harassed, and not being treated equally or with the same respect as their male peers. A safe space where you are challenged, respected, seen and heard means everything to me and means everything to them. My focus is to specifically put on for women of color, who are often underrepresented in streetwear and fashion. And we need more POC to be in positions we don’t typically see them in. We all walked away from that convo like it was group therapy, and my hope was that we could all learn something from each other and know that, shit, you are made for this and every opportunity that will follow. A big shout out to everyone on the Studio Bone team who worked on this project. So inspired and grateful to work with such creative, badass women. Hellraiser but cute 🤍⛓

We make products to invoke curiosity but also to make you question what a “streetwear” brand can do. Inspired by classic Facebook Insider videos of Mom’s making DIY sequin pillows I wanted to take this inspiration and apply it to a 2-toned color changing sequin puffer jacket. Built to withstand the coldest winters while still keeping you shining. Really proud of this shoot, photos by @asatoiida, styling & art direction by @ajbone 🙂✌🏼
