Twelve years ago, I became an auntie for the first time to the sweetest dog I’ve ever known, Kemba Padula. He was the cuddliest, goofiest, and quite possibly the neediest dog I’ve ever known. My favorite memories will be him tapping me with his paw to keep petting, the way he shoved his head between people’s legs when he was happy to see them (not high up, he just liked a hug), and how gentle he was. I’ve never known a softer spirit than his. He was content as long as he could be close by you. He was so good to my sister and her family, and he will be missed. 🕊️ by @ajduffin

So long, Summer 2023. It’s been light and dark. So many moments of profound gratitude, and so many moments of sadness and grief. I’m hopeful that with the change of the season will come more moments with people I cherish. I love the summer and all it brings, and I also love the fall. The quieting, the shift in energy, the slowing down of nature. I plan to reflect it and slow down myself. #thankful by @ajduffin

Dad, daddy-o, *father dearest* & *father*(British accents only), I love you. Thank you for the “1, 2, threeeeee” into bed at night before stories. Thanks for all the laughter and silliness and joy you bring us all. Thanks to you, I bop around my house singing and drumming on everything out of tune every day. Thanks for taking it on the chin when I yelled at you for doing the same when I was a teenager. Thanks for giving me your adventurous spirit and the nickname Bobby D. Not many dads treat their girls as sweet as you have. You noticed every color I painted my nails, sat through all my recitals, cheered me on through my happiest moments and held on during the hardest. You’ve passed on your sensitive and compassionate soul, and the habit of rubbing your feet together when you’re comfy to me. I’m so grateful to call you my dad. Vivian Rae was born in 12/10 and is doing SO good. She is healthy enough that she can stay with Mama without any time in the NICU. There aren’t enough words to describe our gratitude for all of the love and prayer. In the meantime, I’m on Georgia and Joshua duty. Trying to love on them, even though they’re Giants Fans 😉

My sister Lindsay decided to share with our community the news we received this week. A little piece of my heart falls off and crumples into dust every time I write this.. but Lindsay has been diagnosed with colon cancer. She and the family at large are looking to all of our people and connections for any love, or prayer if that’s what you believe in, to be sent her way. Her and my soon-to-arrive niece need to be wrapped up in light and love right now. Thank you.

Truly a weird walk in the woods today. A snake crossed my path, and I literally almost stepped on it. I was having one of those *close your eyes and tilt your face to the sun* moments, full of joy one second, to shouting and jumping when I opened my eyes and looked down at my feet. A literal snake in the grass, crossing my path. Is it a sign from the universe? Or just anxiety because snakes are gross?

Then I saw a gigantic deer (possibly a buck?) cross my path! Lots of interactions with nature today. Does it mean something? Or just happenstance?
