Hey, It’s #founderfriday, so quick refresher for those who are new here.

I’m Abi, I am daughter, wife sister and mother to 11- and 8-years old champions. I grew up in Nigeria but relocated to Chicago in 2002. Started my career as a public health manager, but life has other adventures for me. I founded Ajoje snacks, in response to the lack of quality options for representing African Snacks (Chin Chin). This joirney started on a wonderful Saturday morning when our kids wanted cookies and I’m like. I don’t’ know how to make Cookies, but have you tried chin chin? We made some yummy chin chin and the rest is history.

But they loves the snack and wanted more… so I headed to the store.

My trip to the store to get some chin chin was disappointing. The Chin Chin on shelves looked/ tasted nothing something I would want someone I cared about eat. I figured if I didn’t like it, many others like me wouldn’t neither. So we decided to bring you an Authentic premium West African snacks that you can proudly share with your circle.

We founded Ajoje Snacks to help curious consumers like myself expose our childhood snacks to our our children culturally adventurous snacks lovers in our circle. Ajoje means “to share” and that is what we want everyone who tasted our #chinchin to do. So, thx for being here! Tag a friend to discover the best #chinchin for #Valentines Day.

I pulled Ajoje Chin Chin from Amazon Prime. 👀
Not because we weren’t selling—but because sales don’t always equal profit. Once I broke down the numbers, Amazon-related costs were taking about 51% of each sale.

If you’re a small business considering Amazon, know your numbers first.

Watch out for Part 2: Where did that 51% actually go? 👀

Sometimes getting your product onto a major platform feels like you’ve made it.

But as a small food business, I’ve learned that more sales don’t always mean more profit.
There comes a point when you have to stop celebrating where your product is being sold and start asking: Does this actually make sense for the business?

So I made a decision about Amazon Prime—and in this Reel, I’m sharing why.
Building Ajoje has taught me that sometimes growth means knowing when to pivot, protect your margins, and choose what works for your business.
