Dear Raisa... If someone told me five years ago that there'd be a movie representing our Filipino culture this beautifully, with this much fun AND sharing your name, I wouldn't have believed them. Raissa, Raisa. Close enough! You even got to meet her. Shout-out to the "Fam Bam" cast and crew! And I got to meet H.E.R. (told her I edited this!) The filmmakers loved that you shared her name and drew a picture of Raissa on your visor. Thanks to mommy for finding a Sharpie on the spot. So, about 25 years ago, daddy's friends took a Filipino American movie from city to city. They drove their own cars and crashed wherever people were kind enough to let them stay. 🎵 @elsongsmusic "Sinulog 3000" Just four years ago, we used that same playbook for Lumpia with a Vengeance and played in 59 screens across the country. We fought for every screen, spent our own money, and exhausted ourselves getting the word out. So it's pretty amazing to see a whole marketing machine behind a movie that centers our culture. I'm so glad you get to see this so young and think this is just how it is. You'll never have to wonder if your story belongs on the big screen. #representationmatters #forgottenisland by @ajxy

"Veterano" and "You Could've Been a Nurse" are both playing at @manilaintlfilmfest in Hollywood that starts today. @ycbanfilm tonight at 9pm and "Veterano" tomorrow at 9pm. "Veterano" just won the Narrative Short Audience Award at @asiancinevision and @ycbanfilm won the Narrative Short Audience Award at @danceswithfilms back in June. Both have been building up great momentum on their respective film fest tours and I couldn't be more proud of the team.  Los Angeles, here's your chance to catch both at the historical @chinesetheatres in Hollywood. I'll be in attendance. Hope to see you there! Last July, flew in from @asianfilmdallas on zero sleep, straight to San Diego for ComicCon and dropped in @gaslamplumpiafactorysd, where we had @apldeap of the Black Eyed Peas celebrating the 20th anniversary of "Bebot" with the release of the Generation One 4K remaster. Me and @kidheroes ended up almost performing with him 😄 Awesome to see this music video have a viral moment earlier this year.  Next stop: @manilaintlfilmfest , next Saturday at 2:30 PM. Thank you to @jlavarez for looking out that weekend, thank you @gastronemy for the video 📽️ and @lisaachong and the Gaslamp Lumpia Factory family for giving us a home in SD. #blackeyedpeas #bebot #sdcc #apldeap #comiccon taken in Gaslamp Lumpia Factory by @ajxy
