Last week to see the Open Letter by Alcide Breaux & Akash Sheshadri, on view until September 1!

✉️ We will celebrate Alcide and Akash for the finissage of their Open Letter, with drinks this Sunday at 6pm. Don’t miss it!🥂

Their letter “Checking In…” tells the story of a wheelchair purchased for a student, whose ownership was disputed after graduation. The text serves as the wheelchair’s autobiography, highlighting issues of accessibility and bureaucracy.

Open Letters, initiated by Page Not Found in 2021, provides artists and writers from The Hague a platform to publicly address urgent and vulnerable messages.

Hun Open Letter “Checking In...” vertelt het verhaal van een rolstoel die was aangeschaft voor een student, waarvan het eigendom na het afstuderen werd betwist. De tekst fungeert als de autobiografie van de rolstoel en benadrukt kwesties als toegankelijkheid en bureaucratie.

Open Letters, geïnitieerd door Page Not Found in 2021, biedt Haagse kunstenaars en schrijvers een platform om urgente en kwetsbare boodschappen publiekelijk te adresseren.

together in solidarity with Palestine and Kashmir

While 1948 marked the creation of Israel as a nation state through occupation of Palestine, the year 1947 is celebrated in the Indian subcontinent as the year South Asia gained its freedom from their Colonizers, The British. However, with the establishment of India as a nation-state began the colonization of Kashmir.

Over the past decades, India and Israel have become close partners and allies, wherein India’s occupation of Kashmir and Israel’s occupation of Palestine have stark similarities.

At this crucial moment, as the world rallies for Palestinian liberation amidst the US backed israeli genocide in Gaza, there is an increased need to understand interconnectedness of struggles, solidarity and oppression. Kashmiris are observing aspects of the militarized and violent response used in indian-occupied Kashmir being deployed against students protesting across the US and around the world. We see this violence and brutal state response to resistance as representative of a greater collective struggle against colonization, settler-colonization, and occupation. Through Palestine, we have learnt to speak out against the most unjust institutions, and we see echoes of Palestine everywhere. We know our struggle is interconnected and we should be ready to embody the Palestinian condition, offer unconditional solidarity, and face whatever violence may come, to achieve collective liberation.

Haiku Against Hate: Seventeen Syllables in Solidarity

It's been over a year since this was conceived. The haiku are written in view of, but not limited to, the bigotry ridden rhetoric that dominates the indian political landscape of the now, and its machinations. They are also, in remembrance of those who stick it to the authoritarian state, epitaphs of individuals and causes—lost to injustice everywhere. Through these, I express a hope for a sense of an eventual poetic justice.

These emerged in the wake of a generation defining people's movement, one that braved and continues to, this fascist government. In many ways, this was to make sense of my festering helplessness, therapeutic in our precarious times and to examine a personal positionality, which may be far from sharing repercussions.
We fight the forever fight, reclaim fronts and establish new ones.

The aesthetic takes heavy inspiration from the poetry of Namdeo Dhasal, and the brevity of Grindcore in extreme music. Both upheaving power structures in their own ways. The antithesis of our times, is mirrored in the rather fragile format of a haiku—not shy here, to express overtly political, at times grotesque metonymy.
