October 10th, @bambudepistola turns @thefordla into headquarters for BASS BUILDING.

Not a concert. Not a rally. Not exactly a meeting. If you know what it means to build something from the ground up, you’ll recognize yourself in this room.

Inspired by spirit of his album Party Worker, Bambu flips the live hip hop show into a grassroots organizing session. This isn’t a night to sit back with your arms folded. It’s a night to nod in recognition, laugh at the jokes, call and respond, feel the bass of the beat the same way you feel the weight of the work.

This is about the mechanics of working to serve the people: the strategy, the discipline, the contradictions, the humor, the urgency, and the love.

Single tickets go on sale Friday, 5/15. BUT! Use this pre-sale code and get your tickets starting TOMORROW, 5/13: FORDFANS

📍 The Ford Amphitheater, Los Angeles 📅 10/10/26 🎟️ Tickets: [LINK IN BIO]

I prepared the BASS BUILDING show for a seated audience. I designed the set to feel like something you wouldn’t mind sitting in front of for 3-hours, like an altar. I wanted a visual component that encompassed who I felt I was as a cultural performance artist — obviously we went with the one and only @patrick_martinez_studio — so while folks sat in their chairs they could get lost in the depth of the piece. I studied some French stage plays to figure out the lighting — using spotlights to shrink the stage while making it feel endless at the same time. All of it with the understanding that collectively we would be sitting and listening. Gretchen got everyone to stand at the very top of the show and y’all never sat back down! I appreciate y’all for saying, “f**k this theater sh**, let’s turn The Ford into a community rental hall!” 🫡 Whew! Alright, moving on… thank you for taking part in it!

First and foremost and last but not least, I’m just a fan.

Swipe ahead for a brief historical timeline between @beatrockmusic and my lore as The Greatest Filipino Rapper of All Time 💯

Remember this. @beatrockmusic has alwayz been and continues to be an impenetrable foundation not just for us as artists and people - not even just FilAms - but Hip Hop culture, grassroots organizing, and humanity in general.

Kuya Bam, congratulations on BASS BUILDING. You packed the damn house out in our beloved city of LA, and you did it with family. Blood and chosen. Thank you for your time, your art, and your unfiltered spirit to uplift and protect our people without ever compromising who you are. Had to pull up on you!! @bambudepistola

I originally planned to fly out just to watch like I did in 2024 for Ateh Ruby, but you’re right, we all knew that ain’t goin’ happen 🤣

📸: @beauryan
Jersey: @istilo.la

Ateh Ruby, thanks for having me bless the stage once again with you. “PTI” and “Salbahe Ako” are the FilAm Hip Hop hits right now, and I’m going to run them all the way to the ground with you for as long as we possibly can. We locked in. @rubyibarra

Dreams to reality. The baby ain’t no baby no more, and we definitely held her up to hold her own on stage. The winner of the “PTI” challenge @rockyrivera @bambudepistola @rubyibarra @prometheusbrown

For those of y’all that asked if I was performing and was told “I’m just watching tonight, I’m a fan”, I was telling half the truth 🤞🏽😉

This was damn near a Beatrock and friends Anniversary concert lol

🖕🏽🧊: @istilo.la @kuya_istilo

Been to The Ford 5 times and this was my first time performing. Manifested @thefordla

OCTOBER 2026: LA’s one and only takes @thefordla

JULY 2025: After I blew up, Kuya Bam shared his stage and audience with me in San Francisco and I brought out Ironyamz @_chef_yamz_ to perform “PTI” with @et_iv spinnin’

OCTOBER 2024: Before I blew up, I flew out to watch a pregnant af Ruby Ibarra and an all-Pinay lineup at taken in The Ford by @akbmedia.presents

BASS BUILDING at The Ford - Act 2

TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON who took their hard earned money to purchase a ticket, made travel arrangements and celebrated with us at The Ford, I appreciate you beyond measure! When I looked out into the crowd I saw only familiar faces… I saw the faces of people who’ve been coming to my shows since I started, friends and family, comrades I’ve organized with forever, and most importantly: THEIR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN! The years have been more than kind to me, and this past Saturday proved it. 20+ years of doing this and we’re all still here — whether it was out in the crowd or with the ancestors on stage: WE AIN’T GOING NOWHERE!

Lastly, I have to give a gigantic shout out to someone who stepped in at the 25th hour and absolutely owned that stage — @gretchenbc_! In less than two sentences of me trying to convey the concept and the role she was now stepping in to play, she got it immediately. What a talented gem in our community! S/O to @fern_doe and @et_iv for pushing me to make sure she played a bigger role in BASS BUILDING! Also, thank you to @sammay.art for bringing the ancestors into the fray by opening the show with beautiful movement.

Now go listen to @beatrockmusic’s BASS BUILDING album on @bandcamp while we continue to sort this app shit out.

We SOLD OUT The Ford!
