“We dug deep for epic period locations in Australia and found some gems. Early on, we discovered this quirky little historic village so we built much of the script around it. The biggest challenge was making the boxing sequences feel like they were set inside a heaving 1920s stadium with limited extras. We designed our lighting and coverage to match an archival wide shot from the 40s, and when combined in the edit, it really came alive. We shot at low light levels and high ISOs, layering contrast and lighting for black and white. Some frames from our branded short for Thomas Cook Boot & Clothing Co. Hit the link in bio to watch the film in full! 🤠 After getting to know the team during the @hoedownspectacular, they asked us to make them a film to mark their 100 years. When we sat down with the Cook family, it became clear this wasn’t just a brand story, it was their family story. To do Pop’s story justice, we had to go all in and shoot a full-blown 1920s period piece. It was a wild ride over five big days, and this epic is really a result of a team of dedicated artists.
