Say hello to “OUR CITY” – a bold new mural lighting up Royal Avenue! 🌈💛

Belfast One BID is proud to unveil this vibrant 20-metre mural by local artist @alanamcdowell, now lighting up a previously grey façade in the heart of Belfast 🙌

Part of the ‘Bolder Vision for Belfast’ initiative, this eye-catching piece brings energy, creativity, and unity to Royal Avenue — featuring flowing forms, bold colours, and a nod to the iconic H&W cranes 🏗️

It’s just one part of reimagining Royal Avenue - and we’re here for it!

Hey!
If you’re new here hi 👋🏼
And if you’ve been around for the long haul - thanks!

I’ve had lots of things to navigate lately, the biggest part being relocating (partly) to Australia, and all of the fun things that comes with that - like visas & long haul with a toddler 😅

So I’ve been quiet on here, and sometimes it feels like I’m starting over, but if I remind myself of the leg work to get to here, I know I’m not :)

So. I’m just reintroducing myself. So you can get to know me better. And so that I can show up the best way I can while things look a little different!
In this season of mum-ing and rebuilding, I’m moving away from only sharing the shiny polished final projects, and leaning more into more of our everyday… all while learning how to show up as the best mum and artist I can!

I was delighted when @camp_vc asked me to create a bespoke illustration to celebrate their 10th anniversary!Camp VC is an epic festival that’s action packed with adventure and community. It’s a pioneering space for women and NBi folk to come together through a love of moto / skate / outdoors / music and all the bits inbetween!
Basically they’re cool as 😎 and I hope the illustration did that justice!

Have you spotted my new mural on North Street yet? 💕
The @fleadhcheoil is on in Belfast city and the North street carpark is hosting a whole load of live music and activities. The 30m hoarding leading from Lower Garfield to the entrance of the venue was in need of a serious bit of love, and so I was commissioned by @belfastonebid to create that celebrated the city and made for a brighter backdrop than the tagged hoarding.

If you’re heading to an event and spot it on your way, I hope it brightens your walk!

Here’s a fun and silly wee clip of some bts mural chaos before I share the finished piece properly… 🎨✨

My latest commission for @belfastonebid saw me transform this 30m hoarding on North Street ahead of @fleadhcheoil coming to Belfast next week.

Armed with 10+ litres of pink paint, a whole heap of spray cans and some very resilient Docs, I spent the week bringing a bit of colour (and load of Belfast slang) to North Street.

The number of people who walked past saying “That’s class!” definitely became a running joke… and honestly, I wasn’t even mad about it ahaa

More of the artwork coming soon, but for now here’s a wee sneaky look at the process (including celebratory pint).

Hope it gives visitors and locals alike something fun to spot over the Fleadh. 💕 taken in Belfast by @alanamcdowell

Come for the music 🎵 Stay for the craic 💥

Last week I wrapped up this huge piece on Royal Avenue. The @fleadhcheoil is coming to the North for the first time, so working with @belfastonebid who sorted the permissions to paint the building, I created this mural to celebrate Belfast’s rich cultural and musical history!

If you’ve been around long enough to know the building that once was JJB (RIP), it’s long neglected shutters have got a wee bit of a glow up, along with the building beside.

Hugest thanks to the legend that is @ana.fish.art for giving me a hand a couple of days :)
