A wise man once told me, that life is about doing things with people that you love; and ultimately that this is the purest meaning of life. In many ways I had felt it is honourable to do life alone, yet the opportunity is missed to be loved, to grow through being supported, to be thought about and to be witnessed in the process of life; to the point that perhaps people around me now know me better than myself.

26 years; many lessons, challenges, relationships and moments of pure joy, yet the biggest, the journey of allowing those who choose to love me into my life, softening into being held and celebrated for my essence in this world.

This has been no easy feat, I have resisted, avoided and run away from this very love which I seek; being left drowning in a puddle of my own creation, funnily enough ignoring the helping, healing hands of my loved ones.

That is what makes this birthday so sweet, knowing that I have chosen to let this love in, not just on one day but slowly over the last year, practising being a villager, getting out of my own way and fostering connections with my people, my family and myself ❤️

Yet, I had to go on this journey to discover myself, my values, what is truly important to me and what i cannot live without. Friends that don’t have to fight to love me, a community that holds me in all of my challenges, and celebrates me through all of my successes. Life’s greatest privilege, to love and be loved; something that I no longer take for granted, expect or choose to ignore; this year I let all the love into my heart, as this nourishes my soul and allows me to continue my quest, with those who I love right by my side.

So thank you, to everyone that contributes to my life, that offers your perspective, challenges me and helps me to see myself more clearly; this life is challenging enough as it is, so to myself; continue to let the love in, continue to take responsibility for my role in this life and remember…

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. ✨

A programme cover fit for an undefeated team... 👀🎨

The second piece of our matchday programme series, created by local artist @alanamcdowell, was revealed for our game against Georgia, with another part of the bigger picture falling into place 💚🤍

This edition also shone a light on @irishfa programme Ahead of the Game and the importance of positive mental health, with profits from the programme supporting the cause.

Look out for the final piece in November and complete the collection ⏳👀

Some epic new work from the Queen of murals @alanamcdowell who was commissioned by @belfastonebid to transform the 30m hoarding on North Street ahead of @fleadhcheoil in Belfast.

Armed with 10+ litres of pink paint, a whole heap of spray cans and some very resilient @drmartensofficial Alana spent the week bringing a bit of colour (and load of Belfast slang) to North Street.

From @alanamcdowell - “The number of people who walked past saying “That’s class!” definitely became a running joke… and honestly, I wasn’t even mad about it”
