We came for a movie night. We left talking about the importance of breast cancer screening.

Last week, our community of ambassadors, supporters and partners joined us at @cineplexmovies for a “Double Screening” event.

This year’s Celebration of Hope brought together supporters, ambassadors and members of the cancer community to reflect on the stories, hope and progress behind the @albertacancerlottery.

Around every beautifully constructed corner of this @rarebuilthomes property was a story of loved one facing cancer and a ticket purchased with them in mind.

The evening featured a special performance by @brettkissel and a inspiring words from cancer survivor, David Spence. Powerful reminders of the hope found in this community and the progress being made in cancer research, treatment and care.

Swipe to read Norma’s story 👉💜

As a journalist, Norma Reid was used to telling other people’s stories. Last October, she agreed to get a mammogram on camera to help raise awareness about breast cancer screening.

What followed was a diagnosis that would change her life.

Suddenly, Norma was facing triple-negative breast cancer and a future filled with uncertainty.

But in the midst of this uncertainty, was hope.

An innovative, donor-funded treatment called Immunotherapy has been lifesaving for Norma. Although her cancer journey continues, facing chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, her hope for the future shines brighter each day.

What gives her hope, joy and reason to keep going? The little things.

Sunny days. Playing with her two boys. Watching them grow up.

Moments that might seem ordinary to some but mean everything to Norma.

Her story is a reminder of what’s behind every breakthrough in cancer care. More than research. More than treatment. It’s the possibility of more time with the people we love. by @albertacancer
