What some of you might not know about me: I’m a two time cancer survivor. The second time, in my 20s, every time I walked into the Cross Cancer Institute I was reminded how lucky we are to have that facility here in #yeg and how grateful I am for all the incredible humans behind the treatment and research keeping people like me alive.

Like many of you, I’ve lost a lot of friends and family members to cancer. I think of my friend Jess who we lost two years ago. She was my age. She was one of the best people I’ve ever met.

I remember her talking about the incredible treatment she received at the Cross Cancer Institute. Nurses who attended her celebration of life talked about how loved she was.

Today, I’m wearing this “We Cross Cancer” sweater, but every day, I’m thinking of Jess and all those we’ve lost, and I’m fighting for better healthcare for all.

Update on today’s adventure at the Cross Cancer Institute. 😷
Went in for a routine “haven’t seen you in a while” checkup. 🦋 After an ultrasound to confirm, came out discovering I have more massive bloodclots and need to switch-up the blood thinner I’m on!!
🦋 After full assessment, I now need to be on oxygen 24/7.
Oh boy, what a day. This is a perfect example of living in moments. This did not ruin my day. These are moments I have no control over. They are simply moments where I’ve been handed a few doors to open “at my own choice” in how I respond to them.
