🎙️ EPISODE 019 — GET VANSHEAD

Welcome to “Get VansHead” — your weekly dose of waffle talk where we feature true Vans lovers and their stories, styles, and soles.
This week’s guest: 👉 @albert.padilla__ , a collector with a deep love for culture, classics, and authenticity. Let’s jump in 👟✨

Q1: What’s in your current rotation?
🗣️ “Right now I’m rocking the new premium Old Skools in blue and the premium Authentic checker in asphalt grey. Clean, timeless, fire.”

Q2: Favorite Vans kick right now?
🗣️ “Definitely the Skate Old Skool in teal. I bought three pairs ‘cause I loved them that much. No regrets.”

Q3: What’s your grail?
🗣️ “If I can get the Travis Barker Vans when they drop — that’s the one. Manifesting that pickup.”

Q4: What made you start collecting Vans?
🗣️ “Growing up, it was all I wore. Even when I drifted into Jordans, I always came back. There’s nothing like Vans culture — real, raw, and authentic.”

Q5: Got a personal story behind a pair?
🗣️ “A friend was selling his Mr. Cartoon Authentics. Someone else offered way more, but he sold them to me. Said he knew I wouldn’t flip them — I’d cherish them. That meant everything. That’s Vans loyalty.”

Since the unfortunate incident of having my whole vans collection stolen recently it’s been crazy to have to start all over again. Vans have been my shoe since I was a kid and I’ll continue being apart of the vans community. Can thank my amazing wife for being so supportive and constantly making an effort to start my collection. These are amazing and I am forever grateful. @miss_talia8

The shoe I have been waiting for!!! Finally!!!! Vans to me are special, because it’s what I wore all growing up. It was my favorite brand. Everything about vans was cool. Then as I got older I heard this band called Blink 182 and it changed everything for me. It was my favorite band and Travis Barker was my favorite drummer. My love for vans shoes turned me into a collector not a reseller. Never did I ever have a desire to sell any of my vans, I just wanted to collect them to enjoy them and to one day pass them down to my kids. Well fast forward to this year and the unfortunate situation happened where my whole collection was stolen in a single moment. That crushed me, but in the end I had to realize they are shoes. Something that could be collected again, but honestly that made me not want to collect shoes again, until I heard of the Travis Barker Vans shoe. I knew that was the only shoe I wanted to get and when I was able to get them it made me remember why I love collecting vans shoes. These shoes are going to get passed down to my kids, I made sure to get more than one pair! 1 to rock and 4 to stock!! lol 😂.

LOCAL CORONA: THE SHOPS AT DOS LAGOS

One of the things I like most about Dos Lagos is that it’s not just a place to shop.

It’s a place you can actually spend part of your day.

Grab breakfast or coffee.
Walk or run around the lakes.
Meet someone for lunch.
Shop.
Catch a movie.
Come back for dinner.

The center was designed around a pedestrian-friendly Main Street, two scenic lakes, restaurants, shops, entertainment, and the amphitheater, so it works just as well for a quiet morning walk as it does for a night out. (Dos Lagos)

For anyone trying to live a more active lifestyle, this is one of those spots where you can get outside without having to make a big production out of it.

Early morning run around the water.
Walk across the bridge.
Grab something to eat afterward.

Simple.

And from a real estate perspective, this is also why location matters so much.

The Retreat — one of the nearby gated residential communities — is within about 2 miles of The Shops at Dos Lagos, giving residents quick access to the shopping, restaurants and entertainment here while still being tucked away in a residential setting. (Homes.com)

That’s the kind of lifestyle people sometimes overlook when they’re searching for a home.

It’s not only:

How many bedrooms does the house have?

It’s also:

Where can I eat?
Where can I exercise?
What can we do on the weekend?
What’s five minutes from my front door?

That’s why I want to keep showing more of Corona from a local perspective — the neighborhoods, restaurants, trails, shopping, history and everyday places that actually make up life here.

🌴 LOCAL CORONA: CITRUS PARK

If you’ve lived in Corona for a while, you’ve probably driven past Citrus Park — but there’s a pretty cool piece of local history behind it.

Citrus Park is a 20-acre community park at 1250 Santana Way with a playground, picnic areas, baseball and soccer fields, restrooms, and one of its most popular features: the Splash Zone. (City of Corona)

And here’s the part I think more people should know:

The Splash Zone was created with major support from Mike and Mary Vasquez and the family behind Miguel’s and Miguel’s Jr., a business with deep roots right here in Corona. Miguel’s first opened in Corona in 1973, followed by the first Miguel’s Jr. in 1975. (Miguel’s Jr)

When the Citrus Park Splash Zone opened in 2008, reports from the time credited the Vasquez family with donating $250,000 toward the project, which cost roughly $700,000 overall and received significant private support. The water-play area was designed around Corona’s citrus heritage and became the city’s first splash-style water park. (ActiveRain)

I love stories like this because they show what makes a community special.

It’s not just the homes.

It’s the parks.
The local businesses.
The families who invest back into the city.
And the places where people make memories.

Today, Citrus Park is still a great spot for families to enjoy the playground, picnic areas, sports fields and splash pad. (City of Corona)

📍 Citrus Park
1250 Santana Way
Corona, CA 92881

I’m going to keep highlighting more of the businesses, parks, neighborhoods and hidden gems that make Corona home.

What Corona spot should I feature next?

Same budget. Completely different lifestyle.

Around $1.5 million in Newport Beach can get you roughly:

3 bedrooms
2.5 bathrooms
About 1,640 sq ft

Take a similar budget to Corona and you may be looking at:

5 bedrooms
3 bathrooms
Around 3,800 sq ft

That’s a huge difference in space for roughly the same price range.

But this is exactly why buying a home isn’t just about asking:

“How much can I afford?”

A better question is:

“What do I want my money to buy me?”

For some people, being close to the beach, coastal lifestyle, restaurants, and Orange County amenities is worth giving up square footage.

For someone else, more bedrooms, a bigger yard, more space, and room for the family may matter more.

Neither choice is automatically better.

It comes down to your priorities, lifestyle, and what you actually want your home to do for you.

So I’m curious…

If you had $1.5 million to spend, would you choose Newport Beach or Corona?

Comment below — I want to see which way people go.

Examples based on current market listings. Pricing and property features can change.

Here’s a clean caption you can copy/paste:

A lot of people focus only on the monthly mortgage payment.

But owning a home comes with more than just the payment.

You also need to be ready for:

* maintenance
* repairs
* landscaping
* appliance replacement
* plumbing issues
* HVAC problems
* property taxes
* insurance

Buying a home is not just about getting approved.
It’s about being able to own it well.

That’s why I always say:

Don’t just ask if you can afford the payment. Ask if you can afford the full cost of homeownership.

If you’re thinking about buying and want help understanding the real numbers, send me a message.

If you make around $150,000 a year, you may be able to afford a home in the range of $575K–$600K.

That’s a helpful estimate — but it’s still only an estimate.

Your true buying power depends on things like:

* debt
* credit
* how much you have saved
* loan program
* property taxes
* insurance
* HOA

A higher income doesn’t always mean a simple approval.
The full financial picture matters.

That’s why it’s so important to know the numbers before falling in love with a home.

If you want help understanding your range,
