Living Edible Canvas

For the opening reception of ALTA ,
Alchemy Kitchen was invited to create a temporary culinary installation inspired by the vibrant work of acclaimed Chicana artist Patssi Valdez’s LA LA LA

Drawing from her fearless use of color, movement, and composition, we transformed the table into a living edible canvas—where seasonal ingredients became our palette and every element was intentionally composed by hand.

Throughout the evening, the installation remained on display as guests explored the exhibition while enjoying a collection of seasonal small bites.

It was an honor to contribute to an evening where visual art and culinary artistry met in celebration of creativity, culture, and community.

Fire is our teacher.

It transforms.
It nourishes.
It reminds us that the most beautiful things are created with patience and intention.

For this Summer Supper Club, I’m returning to the volcanic fire of my homeland, Nicaragua—where food is kissed by flame, ceremonial cacao is honored, and every meal begins with the earth.

Guided by fire, the Alchemy Kitchen team will create a menu inspired by the abundance of summer, featuring organic ingredients harvested from the beautiful gardens of The Gardens of Hope.

A sanctuary of healing that has become deeply meaningful to my own journey.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will help support this extraordinary place and the work it continues to do.

Join us on Sunday, August 30, for an evening where every dish is an offering, every flame carries a story, and every seat at the table is an invitation to slow down, connect, and celebrate the beauty of gathering.

Spring unfolded around the table like a poem. 🌿✨

What began as a birthday celebration became something much deeper — a gathering of strangers, friends, stories, laughter, tears, music, flowers, fire, and food made with intention. Every course was an offering. Every plate, a love letter to the season.

This Spring Supper Club was especially close to my heart because together we also helped support Feral and their somatic movement program — creating space not only for nourishment through food, but for healing through community, embodiment, and presence.

There is something sacred that happens when people choose to slow down and share a table together. To witness one another. To taste the earth in bloom. To remember that dining can still be intimate, sensory, emotional, and alive.

Thank you to everyone who came, trusted me, celebrated my birthday with me, and allowed Alchemy Kitchen to continue growing into what I always dreamed it could become.

We can’t believe it’s been a month since we partnered with Alchemy Kitchen to raise support for our new FERAL Movement initiative.

The evening brought together seasonal ingredients, unforgettable flavors, and meaningful connection around the table, while helping raise funds to empower survivors to take their bodies back through somatic yoga, healing practices, and self-defense.

Thank you to Chef Aricia for sharing your birthday and Alchemy Kitchen with us.

Thank you as well to the FERAL team members who were in the kitchen helping bring these meals to life.

“I’m celebrating my birthday by cooking for you.” There are two reasons the next Alchemy Kitchen Supper Club is happening on April 26.

The first is personal.
My birthday is the following day, April 27. And the greatest gift I can imagine is doing what I love most — cooking for a room full of people who gather for good food, music, conversation, and beautiful ambiance.

The second reason is community.

For this dinner, 50% of the proceeds will be donated to @theferalorg, supporting their yoga and wellness programs and the work they do to bring healing and connection to others.

So this table will celebrate more than just another year around the sun.
It will celebrate gathering, generosity, and the magic that happens when strangers become friends over a shared meal.
