This World Mental Health Day, we’re highlighting how support from AlectraCARES is helping Trillium Health Partners advance research to improve mental health care access and quality for equity-deserving groups in Mississauga.

This work includes engaging Black, African, Caribbean and South Asian youth through art to help shape mental health care practices, and partnering with the City of Mississauga to support healthy lifestyles and community inclusion for adults living with psychosis.

By bringing patient voices together with mental health expertise, these projects are helping care better reflect people’s needs.

We’re proud to support this work as part of our commitment to the well-being of the communities we serve.

Today, Alectra recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We honour Residential School Survivors, their families and communities, and remember the children who never returned home. We also reflect on the ongoing impacts of Canada’s Residential School system, the resilience of Indigenous communities and our shared responsibility to advance reconciliation.

Throughout September, the “Every Child Matters” flag has been raised at all Alectra facilities. Alectra employees also had the opportunity to learn from Christina Kitchekesik, a First Nations Cree woman, Residential School Survivor and Resolution Health Support Worker, who shared her experiences and perspectives on healing, reconciliation, culture and community.

Truth and reconciliation require ongoing reflection, learning and action. Alectra remains committed to continuing this work today and throughout the year.

Whether you’re working outside or enjoying time outdoors, always be aware of nearby powerlines. ⚠️

Stay at least three metres away from overhead powerlines. You don’t have to touch a powerline to receive a deadly shock, electricity can arc if you get too close.

Considering an electric vehicle? ⚡

This #WorldEVDay, we’re answering common questions about EV range, charging and costs and sharing a real example from Alectra’s home charging pilot.

Alectra employee and pilot participant Krupa used an EV Energy Management System (EVEMS) to install a Level 2 home charger without costly panel and electrical service upgrades, saving thousands in installation costs.

Explore Krupa’s story and try our EV Calculator through the link in our bio.
