1 year without you, dad ❤️‍🩹

I can’t even wrap my head around it. I spoke to him 2 days before he passed and I would have never thought that it would be my last time to ever talk to him.

Dad, I think one of the hardest parts of losing you has been realizing just how much life keeps happening without you here. Every new milestone comes with the thought that you should’ve been here for it. There’s so much you missed this year 😞

You missed getting to visit Hawaii with the family.

You missed all of the holidays and milestones. Halloween, Christmas, your wedding anniversary, your 51st birthday, and all of our birthdays.

Mom learned how to play mahjong and became completely obsessed with it.

Lain finished his last year of middle school and started high school. He also became obsessed with comic books.

Damon and I moved back to Texas, and then Damon started a new job that is now having us move to Japan. Damon is already there so we’re doing long distance again.

Mom redecorated the living room.

I started therapy.

You never got to meet Wicket.

There have been new movies that came out that I know you would have loved.

And there’s so much more. So many little things that probably wouldn’t seem important to anyone else, but that I know we would have told you about ❤️‍🩹 So many moments where I’ve thought about what you would say, what you would think, or how much you would’ve loved something.

A whole year of life happened without you here, and I still don’t understand how that’s possible. But I will continue to keep your memory alive in everything I do and everywhere I go 🫶🏻 by @alexarmetzger
