3 years ago, I started planning the first two recurring event series for @cnywomensnetwork: monthly happy hours and weekly walks.

I look back at that version of myself with so much gratitude. She was full of excitement, curiosity, and possibility. I didn’t have a business plan — I just knew I had to show up and create the kind of community I was craving.

Three years later, with the support of an incredible team and dozens of amazing partners, we’ve hosted more than 200 events for women across Central New York.

There are still dreams I’m working toward, but this little content trend reminded me that I’m already living a life that a previous version of me once hoped for.

Trust the timing. Keep showing up. You never know what can happen when you take the first step. 🩷

The great lock in for @hyroxamerica Nashville begins today 🥲🫶

Here’s my checklist from now through December:

✓ Train 5x/week
✓ Run 3x/week
✓ 10–15K steps/day
✓ Prioritize protein + whole foods
✓ Hydrate like it’s my job
✓ 7–8 hours of sleep
✓ Work with intention, not just urgency
✓ 8 focused work hours, 6 days/week
✓ Plan my week before it starts
✓ Journal every morning + night
✓ Stay close to God
✓ Protect my peace + be intentional with my energy
✓ Make time for the people and things that fill me back up
✓ One real recovery day every week
✓ Less scrolling, more creating
✓ Keep the promises I make to myself

I have big goals for my business, my body, and my life over the next two months.

That said, please don’t ask me to hang out. I don’t like having to say no 🥲

Need to get this off my chest…

This happened to me recently, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Probably because it’s not the first time it’s happened.

I think we need to talk about what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate when attending networking events.

I am ALL for shooting your shot. Truly. Ask for the meeting. Send the DM. Pitch yourself. Put yourself in the room.

But please understand that access to someone does not automatically equal access to everything they’ve built.

I did not spend years pouring my time, talent, money, relationships, and energy into building a platform just for someone to walk into an event I’m hosting, meet me for the first time, and immediately ask how they can benefit from it.

At least take me to dinner first. 😂

Because when your first interaction with someone is essentially, “Hi, nice to meet you. Here’s what I want from you,” it doesn’t feel like networking.

It feels transactional. It feels extractive. And frankly, it makes me feel like you don’t actually care who I am. You care about what I can give you.

Especially when I’m the one who built the room you’re standing in.

Please just give me a minute.

Get to know me. Have a conversation with me. Ask me what I’m working on. Tell me what you’re building. Find some common ground. Maybe even consider what you could bring to the relationship before asking what you can take from it.

And then? Shoot your shot.

Some of the greatest opportunities of my career have come from relationships that started with absolutely no agenda.

Networking is not about collecting people who can do something for you.

It’s about building actual relationships with people.
