I’ve officially had a chocolate pizza, and I’ll never be the same. 🥲 This week on Cultivate, I sat down with Ryan Novak, owner of Chocolate Pizza Company (@chocolatepizzacompany) in Marcellus, NY. Ryan started washing dishes at the shop when he was 15 and bought the business at 21, while finishing his senior year at Syracuse with $1,200 in his bank account. Sixteen years later, Chocolate Pizza Company ships all over the world. When they were featured on ABC World News Tonight, they got 1,000 orders in the first 10 minutes. We talked about what it really took to get there: the morning his cocoa contract got canceled, the expensive mistakes that taught him to focus, learning to let great people be great, and why the character of a founder shapes the brand they build. And yes, I tried the famous peanut butter wings on camera. 🙃 Ryan’s new book, Inner Armor: Why Passion, Resilience, and Character Shape Entrepreneurs and the Brands They Lead, is out now on Amazon and chocolatepizza.com. 🎧 Listen to the full episode at the link in my bio. Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Mooney Marketing Group (@mooneymarketinggroup), for making this conversation happen.

Through an interactive, humor-filled keynote, Arel will explore how we can move beyond competition, strengthen workplace relationships, and build teams that work better together. And that’s just one part of the evening! Join us at @vanderkampny in Upstate New York for dinner, guided conversations with founders and professionals, and a live recording of Cultivate with Alex Canavan featuring @jeffknauss of @arcovo.ai. Cultivate Live is open to all. You don’t need to be a member, and it’s not exclusively for women. We’d love to have you in the room. 👉 Tickets are available now at cnywomensnetwork.com/cultivatelive26 #centralny #mastermind #keynotespeaker #syracuse

There’s something special about sitting at a table with women who want to see each other succeed. 🤍 Last night at Pete’s with CNY Women’s Network and NNY Women Who Lead was full of honest conversation, intentional connection, and a reminder that we don’t have to do business alone. Alex and Melissa, thank you for bringing women together with so much care and intention. You’re creating space for us to ask questions, share what’s really happening, and build relationships that go beyond what we do for work. I spend so much of my work helping business owners feel supported in their decisions. Being part of communities where I get to feel that support, too, means a lot. Grateful to have found both of these communities. 🫶🏼

In this week’s episode of @alexcanavanpodcast, Marissa (@crazyrealbuggezogg) opened up about her experience as a stay-at-home mom, the isolation that came with it, and what she wishes she would have done differently looking back. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you’ve pulled away from yourself, your friendships, or your community until you’re on the other side of it. This week’s episode of @alexcanavanpodcast with Jennifer Wilber + Marissa Rothschild of CrazyReal with Bugge & Zogg is a fun one, but it’s also full of honest conversations like this. 🤍 Listen to the full episode wherever you get your podcasts. My dreams are coming true at Camp Collective this November 13-15 at @vanderkampny 💻🌲✨ A laptop, a journal, a quiet corner in the woods, and enough space to actually think about where you’re going next. Camp Collective is about stepping away from the noise, slowing down, getting outside, connecting with incredible women, and making some room for yourself. But we’re also here to get clear on what’s next. On Saturday, we’ll spend intentional time mapping out our 2027 goals and, more importantly, building the execution plan to actually make them happen. What are you building? What needs to change? What deserves more of your energy? And what are you leaving behind in 2026? You’ll leave with more than a vision for the year ahead. You’ll leave with a plan. 🌲 Camp Collective 📍 @vanderkampny | Cleveland, NY 🗓 November 13–15 We have just a few spots left. Come spend the weekend with us. 🤍 Learn more + claim your spot at the link in bio.
