The Milky Way dominates the night sky above Camels Hump in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

This is an image that I took almost two years ago that I just recently reprocessed. As I’ve grown and learned more about the process of shooting and editing astrophotography, it’s fun to go back and revisit old works and update them to my current standards.

It has been a beautiful fall season so far! Most mornings this time of year begin with thick fog in the valleys. This creates some phenomenal photo opportunities. Playing with light has never been my strong suit, but I kinda like how these ones turned out!

Incredible light at sunrise during peak fall colors

I got an early start yesterday morning and hiked up to the top of Spruce for sunrise with time to spare. It was an absolute stunner. From the predawn sky to the late morning light, everything kept getting better. But the real show came during sunrise. The light was so intense and the fall colors so vibrant, the mountains appeared to glow fiery red above the valleys and fog below. The sky had a beautiful natural gradient of blue to orange. It was truly a sight to behold. To top it all off, I reached the top at 6am and didn’t see another person until I was packing up to hike back down at 8.
