had the time of my life in the land down under 🇦🇺🦘 by @alexhager

Five years ago I risked everything to build an app. I lost my savings, sold my car, and ended up $40k in debt.

At the time, I was in the most financially stable position of my life. The smart decision would’ve been to invest in stocks or real estate… but I’ve always been a bit of a wild one.

So instead, I went all-in to build the app I always wished existed. Something that would reimagine calorie tracking and help people stay consistent with their fitness.

I was told it would take 3–6 months.

Years later it still wasn’t finished — and all my money was gone.

I sold my grand piano.
I sold my favorite guitar.
I sold my car.

It still wasn’t enough.

I ended up completely broke, over $40k in credit card debt, working a door-to-door sales job just to make rent. Most mornings I woke up thinking I had made the worst mistake of my life.

But there’s one thing about me.

I’m a persistent mother f*cker.

At almost every point, the smart decision would’ve been to walk away and cut my losses. But I couldn’t do it. If I gave up, all of it would’ve been for nothing.

So I kept going.

By December 2025, Intake was basically on life support. The product wasn’t where it needed to be and the debt I’d taken on was making life very difficult.

So I made the scariest decision yet.

I scrapped the entire project and started over from scratch.

Eventually I found a new developer who believed in the same vision I did. Over the last few months we worked nonstop to build what Intake was always meant to be:

The fastest, easiest way to track calories.

And somehow… after everything…

We made it.

Looking back, it’s been stressful, lonely, expensive, and everything in between. But it’s also shown me that you really can do anything you set your mind to.

All it takes is some unwavering persistence… and a slightly concerning level of delusion.

Luckily, I seem to have both.

We built the best damn diet app in the world.

And it’s finally here.

If you’ve ever supported me — thank you. It means more than you know.

Who’s making these decisions fr 🥲 #fitness by @alexhager

People ask me all the time how I can eat whatever I want and stay shredded. And it’s crazy to me because it’s genuinely one of the easiest things to do. You just have to track your calories.

Wanna lose weight? Consume less calories than you’re burning daily.

Wanna gain weight? Consume more calories than you’re burning daily.

Yes, you should eat healthy. But I’m also human, and I like to enjoy things that I actually crave sometimes. And by tracking my calories, I don’t have to feel guilty about it and I can look great the next day, and year round. A “fast metabolism” has nothing to do with it.

Simply create enough wiggle room for the things you like.

This is the calorie tracking app that I built and use everyday:

If you want shoulders that get mistaken as boulders, I’m gonna take y’all through my full shoulders & traps routine.

We’re starting out with our only pressing movement of the day. I prefer standing shoulder press, but I often alternate between this and seated shoulder press with dumbbells. We’re doing 2 warmup sets, followed by 2 working sets until failure for about 6-8 reps.

Next are shoulder lateral raises with a thumbless grip. Now, not every gym has this machine, so standard cable lateral raises are just as good. We’re going nice and slow and doing 2 sets until failure for about 6-8 reps, followed by a drop-set thats about 20% lighter.

Afterward, I’m doing front raises using an EZ bar attachment on the cable machine with a thumbless grip. This is probably my favorite shoulder movement, and we’re doing 2 failure sets of 6-8 reps and keeping things slow and controlled.

We’re following them up with upright rows using the same attachment, but going a lot heavier. Once again, control the motion and tempo and we’re aiming for 6-8 reps until failure.

More traps activation is next with dumbbell shrugs. Now, lifting straps are a requirement. If you want your traps to grow, you need to be doing a weight that isn’t limited by your grip strength, so the straps are non-negotiable. I’m doing 2 sets for about 12-15 reps, and I perform them until the weight just won’t move.

For rear delts we’re starting out with face-pulls, going stupid slow. This is probably my favorite attachment for them, but using a rope works just fine too. I’m doing 2 failure sets for about 6-8 reps.

Lastly, I’m doing rear delt flies on the cable machine, with no attachment. These are absolutely goated, and I despise any other rear delt fly variation. Make sure to keep a slight bend in your arm so this doesn’t turn into a tricep extension. I’m doing 2 sets until failure for about 8 reps.

Anyway, that’s my exact shoulder routine. I hope this helps and follow for more fitness content.

Fellas if you want boobs so big you’ll get breast implant accusations, this is my full chest day routine.

We’re starting out with bench press. I do 2 sets of a light weight followed by 2-3 sets of a weight that I can do for about 5-6 reps.

From here on out, we’re only doing working sets and every set until failure.

Next up is incline press. You can do this on a machine like I’m doing, but you can alternatively do them using dumbbells on an incline bench. We’re doing 2 failure sets of 6-8 reps.

Afterward we’re doing incline flies. Not every gym has this machine so you can also do them with cables or dumbbells on an incline bench. We’re aiming for 2 failure sets of 8-10 reps.

More flies are next, and we’re using the pec deck. If you have decent shoulder mobility, I like to go really far back and shift my butt forward for crazy lower pec activation, and we’re aiming for 2 failure sets of 6-10 reps.

For our last fly motion, we’re doing low to high flies on the cable machine, and don’t turn this into an explosive movement. Slow and controlled reps. We’re aiming for 2 failure sets of 8-10 reps.

Lastly, we’re finishing a pushup drop-set. Load as many plates as you can on your back and do pushups until failure, remove a plate and continue until you can’t do a single bodyweight pushup.

And that’s it. Share this with a friend and follow for more fitness advice.

If this is you doing lateral raises, let me put you on.

Lateral raises gotta be one of the most incorrectly performed exercises, let me show you an easy trick to do them right 100% of the time.

This is my foolproof method for perfect lateral raise form for crazy delt growth.

We’re gonna start by swapping our standard grip for a thumbless grip, which is going to decrease emphasis on your traps and arms, and make it way easier to feel it where you actually want to, in your shoulders.

Then we’re gonna position our feet right beside the cable machine.

Place your opposite hand on the cable pillar right next to your chest. Then lean over until your arm is straight.

Then simply raise the weight and imagine pulling from your elbow.

If you follow this method you’ll do them correctly every time. Share this trick with someone to put them on and follow for more fitness advice.

1-1 coaching applications are open, check my bio for more info.
