Happy to announce two shows featuring @lefty.parker & @chicostatesmusic , July 27 and 28 .

July 27 will be at @theapohadion w/special guest @numberonebabeband .

& The Central Maine, East Madison Grange Hall, show will be truly unique.

There will be a pot luck downstairs and there is a beautiful upstairs stage. Def a special event to carpool too. Go to one or both! The grange hall show will be graciously hosted by @jhnhrlw , who absolutely knocked it out of the park last time.(video of last Grange show with Greg Jamie in the second photo!) taken in East Madison, Maine by @alexsilver____

I’m so excited for @subvertworld’s public debut next week. While the %-of-a-penny question rages on and Spotify expands anyway, this project says that we can own and govern these systems ourselves. We’ve voted for our first board members, comprised of artists, labels, and supporters. We’ve co-authored one of the most sophisticated AI policies on any platform. We’ve designed, debugged, debated, and imagined a fairer way to listen to music. We’re a 21,000 member co-op and everyone has their own take, but our culture of cooperation is emerging and I feel heard.

“Let Me Be A Friend For Lost Time,” my new longform song, will be for sale at Subvert on May 22nd. Here’s our co-op’s logic: anyone can check out, share, and buy music. But members who add to the mutual effort can offer and receive more, for example unlimited listening. Artists and listeners aren’t subsidizing a corporate conquest, they’re helping each other.

I’d love if people bought the new song for $2, or last fall’s album for $5, even just to try it out and see what this model feels like. It’s one of the reasons I wrote this internet-focused song (“I’m overwhelmed by information / Like staring at a tree without looking”). I’ve collected, written about, and bought a ton of music lately and it feels like watering and feeding a garden. Like making ourselves stronger. It feels good! by @alexsilver____

Leaving this one here 🙌 Thanks to those in Portland especially, who are so consistently there as friends. Joe would be off somewhere clanging strings regardless, but I think you’ve deepened it all. He and Garrett did very beautiful work for this record, and I’m proud of them. And of Kristina too—visual art is so important to musical experience. Very exciting show coming up Saturday at @hifidelitybeer. We played with @vegavvega_ in Burlington a few years ago, w/ a clarinet player and another guitarist, and it was super absorbing. Can’t wait. I haven’t seen @windier__ yet, but saw their bassist play for Greg Jamie the other night and it is👌I’m also a secret patron of Annie Dodson’s sound art (Corn Alone and saving the pigeon, ppl!). @theclearwaterswimmers get my head straight, 3rd time together.

Other good news, The Bollard reviewed I Saw A Galloping Horse Gather No Ground! All the writing on the album has given me joy, but this one’s also plainly funny. I can’t believe how closely Chris Busby looked at the record. I’m pretty sure he knows more about Joe’s referential world than I do now. Very worth the read, it’s very unique and flattering to our friend Joe.

Lastly, while I have your ear, check out this young Cuban hip-hop group @eidi_indajaus. I’m playing this song over and over and want to make a music video like this. Hope to see ya Saturday by @alexsilver____

I decided to “reissue” No Guide: Sketches 2014-2017 as a single album and I’d love for you to join me at the Listening Party on Thursday, September 18th at 8:30pm. Even though for me it’s probably the most important thing I’ve made, it’s never really had its due and very few of my friends actually know about it. It would be so fun and rewarding to discuss it with you in the chat, and I have some download codes to give out too. Honestly, a listening party is more my speed, because I don’t really see live performance as my art form. Maybe someday we’ll sit in a listening theater and do an artist talk after checking out an album together. Until then, there’s this.

I’m renaming the album to what I first called it, Exactly and However, because it’s made of unfinished draft recordings that eventually just became finished things to me. I want the title to capture that sense of arbitrariness, because it was a significant struggle and joy for a long time.

@carascozzafava friggin rules. I just submitted public testimony on two bills that would raise taxes 4% on wealthier income brackets. I know about these through Cara.

LD 1089: An Act to Permanently Fund 55 Percent of the State’s Share of Education by Establishing a Tax on Incomes of More than $1,000,000

LD 1047: An Act to Impose an Additional Tax on Certain Unearned Income (referring to capital gains)

Cara created a public testimony how-to guide for her organization and I followed the steps/did the research. This kind of education is so empowering. After tomorrow’s hearing, my viewpoint will be in the public record.
