To say Truckee’s inaugural Oktoberfest was a blast would be an understatement.

You brought the energy, Truckee. And then some. Here’s a little proof that this town knows how to have a good time.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the first one a celebration to remember. Already counting down ‘til next year! Prost! 🥨🍻🍁🏃‍♂️ taken in Truckee, California by @alibialeworks

The first snowflakes are coming, and we’re kicking off avy season the right way: with @codytownsend. ❄️

Join us Wednesday, October 21st for the first of three avalanche education nights this year. Cody will talk about the Normalization of Deviance, the way risks that don’t punish us slowly shift our sense of what’s safe in avalanche terrain. He’ll get into how his own decision-making has changed over the years, from pro skier to big-mountain backcountry traveler, and share hard-earned lessons from The FIFTY/FIFTY+. Then we’ll have an open Q&A.

We’re also joined by David Reichel, Executive Director of the @savycenter, for a backcountry basics refresher. He’ll cover how to plan a good day out, where to find the avalanche forecast, how to actually use it, and what goes into making it every morning.

Doors open at 6:00 PM, so come early, grab a beer and some snacks, and get a good seat. The presentation starts at 6:30 PM. 📍 @alibialeworks Truckee

And don’t forget the raffle! It’s a big one, with gear from event sponsors: @Ortovox, @Smartwool, @tahoedonnerassociation Cross Country, @tahoemountainschool, @valhallamountainguides, @blackdiamond, @wolverinepublishing, @hellyhansen, @flylowgear, @ptrevolution_truckee, @thenorthface, @patagonia, @alpenglowexpeditions_tahoe, @mountainflowecowax, @arcadebelts, @nuunhydration, @skratchlabs

Every ticket supports the Sierra Avalanche Center and the forecasts we all rely on all winter.

Free to attend. Tag your touring partners and see you there! taken in Alibi Ale Works - Truckee Public House by @alibialeworks
