The first snowflakes are coming, and we’re kicking off avy season the right way: with @codytownsend. ❄️

Join us Wednesday, October 21st for the first of three avalanche education nights this year. Cody will talk about the Normalization of Deviance, the way risks that don’t punish us slowly shift our sense of what’s safe in avalanche terrain. He’ll get into how his own decision-making has changed over the years, from pro skier to big-mountain backcountry traveler, and share hard-earned lessons from The FIFTY/FIFTY+. Then we’ll have an open Q&A.

We’re also joined by David Reichel, Executive Director of the @savycenter, for a backcountry basics refresher. He’ll cover how to plan a good day out, where to find the avalanche forecast, how to actually use it, and what goes into making it every morning.

Doors open at 6:00 PM, so come early, grab a beer and some snacks, and get a good seat. The presentation starts at 6:30 PM. 📍 @alibialeworks Truckee
