Amazing night pacing the Nike After Dark 10km last night

Was a bit nervous being the 40min pacer as I know it’s such a big time for so many people to break. Really difficult to pace with no reliable GPS in the area, but watch elapsed time came in at 39:59, official time was 40:01 so if we split the difference I came in bang on time 🕰️

So much fun and so amazing to meet so many incredible women smashing it, also when else do you get to run down an airport runway!

Vitality 10km 2026 - 38:36

Legs were already in tatters before the race even began, turns out doing a 25km trail race with over 1000m of elevation a week before another race isn’t fantastic prep (but 1000% worth it!)⛰️

Still 2 mins faster than last year and only a few seconds off a PB, which I’ll take! But, most impressively of all it was Mum and @elizaneil._ first ever race! They both absolutely smashed it and couldn’t be prouder ❤️ taken in Buckingham Palace by @alice_tri3

Castle 5km - 1st female 18:40 🥇

Had very few expectations going into that race off the back of a cold and with no running for a week I genuinely had no idea where my fitness was. I’d had a few strong sessions before I got sick, so was hoping it would all just come back and it definitely did!

I’d started making excuses before I even step foot on the start line and convinced myself that I was still a bit bunged up, I was already feeling a stitch and I’m not an evening runner

I’m definitely someone who can talk themselves out of something before they’ve even given it a go, so I tried to put those thoughts to the back of my mind and actaully just try running and see what happened 😂

Got off to a bumpy start when I couldn’t start my watch and went out pretty conservatively- somehow managed to build some momentum and overtook the two women in front of me, pretty much negatively splitting the race taking it from a 3:50min/km to a 3:37min/km (maybe it was the magic of the eclipse) 🌑

I tried not to look at the watch too much and just trusted my legs would take me and the didn’t let me down! It’s a big confidence boost for the future, I’ve not run sub 19mins in years and given the heat and everything else, I’m over the moon with that result and the win was just the icing on top of the cake - project sub-18 is very much back on! taken in Carlisle, Cumbria by @alice_tri3

Easingwold 10km - 39:15 - second female 🥈

Decided to break up my drive up north with a 3 hour detour to run a 10km race!

Races like this really are the best of the running community! Closed roads, good aid stations, the whole village out supporting and not extortionately priced! It’s my mission to run more races like this, such a good atmosphere and it really brought together the whole running community, from speedy club runners to a local group who were running their first ever 10km - more runs like this please (maybe slightly flatter next time)!

Very wintery Winter 10km - 39:07 ❄️

Weather lived up to expectations, and so did my outfit - don’t know what was more of an ick, the arm warmers or the bin bag?

London is always my fav place to race, it’s always so nice to see so many familiar faces out on the course supporting and racing (thanks @rattee.h for the video!). There’s something about big races that just hits different and today was no exception!

Day got off to a strong start when I realised I didn’t have any safety pins and had to start asking strangers on the bus if they had any spare 🧷

I didn’t want to put too much pressure on a time, as I wanted to go out and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the experience, but was hoping to hit sub 40. In the first few KM it wasn’t looking likely, hit 2km at just over 8mins and wasn’t sure I had it in me to turn up the dial and pick up the pace. I don’t seem to have an offial time yet, but elapsed time from start to finish was 39:07 so pretty happy with that as I don’t think I’ve run sub 40 in years!

I’m starting to focus on fitting in running and feel like I’m starting to get back some consistency. Trying to regain fitness is always a frustrating process and it’s easy to compare your times to what they used to be. I’m sure I’ll get back there (and even have a few PBs left in me yet!) and I feel like today was a good base to build from. Not entirely sure exactly what I’m building at the moment, but feels good to be back racing and London never disappoints!

Another year older, another Km further 🎂

Forever grateful that I run in Km and not miles.

Yes, I did take annual leave to essentially run a very long way, but had the perfect day, running, napping and eating - wouldn’t have it any other way (although 28km was a long time to be out in the snow and “feels like” -5C) taken in Hyde Park by @alice_tri3

Back on track! 👟

The last year or so I’ve had a very on off relationship with running. I’ve struggled to strike a balance between trying to fit miles in around shifts and sleep, but finally finding consistency over the past few weeks has felt so good! ⚖️

I’m running 5-6 times a week with 2 speed sessions if I can. It’s not always easy, and some days I still wake up tired and decide not to run 💤

Sometimes I want to go out for dinner and drinks and that’s more important than running 15km the next day or smashing a speed session. I love running, and the last couple of weeks I’ve felt so much better for consistency hitting solid mileage, but also sometimes other things are more important🥂

My millage will probably take a dip next week as I enjoy time away with my family for Christmas, but spending time with family and not stressing about when I can squeeze a run is is far more important! 🎄

I tend to stop running for a week or two and then fall of a cliff and completely stop, but I feel like I’m back in the groove and this time I’m already thinking about how come back and continue to build on the momentum of the past few month! 📈

With the Winter 10km in Feb I have something to work towards, and having only ever raced one 10km I’m excited to see what I can do. Am I in PB shape? Who knows? Part of me thinks I’ll never get back into the shape I was in two years ago and it’s easy to get stuck in a rut of not feeling ready so then not training (you can’t fail if you don’t try) but consistency is key and I’m excited to give it a good go - there’s nothing quite like a big London race! ❄️ taken in Battersea Athletics Track by @alice_tri3

Putney and Fulham half 1:35:57🌟

A tough day in the office - I turned up at the race in my recovery shoes planning to take it easy of the back of illness. Standing in the start area I decided to change the game plan and send it. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, having not run over the half marathon distance in the last three weeks cumulatively, but I have a tendency to shy away from racing when I don’t feel fit enough and decided I needed to take the fear out of racing.

I’m proud that I gave it my all even if it wasn’t the result I’d hoped for and an important reminder that just because something is hard, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it or take the easy option. You’re not going to PB or hit your goal every time and running shouldn’t be about that. It was probably the hardest race I’ve ever done, but one of the most important I’m proud I gave it a go, dug deep and ran my own race, even if it wasn’t the race I’d hoped for

Nice half in 3 weeks, I’m focusing on recovery and getting used to time on feet again (my toes and the balls of my feet were not used to pounding the pavement for that long and I’m not looking forward to seeing my toenails…) onwards and upwards 🚀 taken in Putney by @alice_tri3

Birthday run 27km for 27 years 🥳

An ambitious distance considering I can’t remember the last time I ran in double figures! My highest weekly mileage in then last 12 weeks has been around 24km, so wasn’t sure if I’d actually make it through the distance today, but ran without the watch, forgot about the pace and let my legs roll over.

Moving back to London, a few colds and life has been busy, running has taken a back seat. The last few weeks I’ve had a bit of a mental block with running and felt like I’d lost all of my fitness, but today was a big confidence boost and reminded me that I can still run! 🏃‍♀️

Got Nice half marathon in April to start working towards so hopefully some consistency will be back on the cards (and I might even get around to posting some of it on here) 🌟 taken in Westminster by @alice_tri3

Barcelona half 2024 💃

First race of the year - Ran it fun rather than fast this year. One of my favourite races, in one of my favourite cities 🇪🇸

And in non-running news, when I got home I finally had Wi-Fi in the new house, so a big wins all round this weekend 🥳 taken in Barcelona, Spain by @alice_tri3

2023 the BEST year yet filled with PBs, pals and some incredible places 🌍

Running wise it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster year 🎢 I’ve been the fastest I’ve ever been - smashed PBs, won races and felt in fitter than ever, but also had weeks where I’ve nearly DNF’d park run. For me, running is about having fun, meeting new people and exploring new places, which 2023 has been full of! ❤️

2024 is probably going to look quite different as I get ready to move up to the Scottish border for most of the year. Excited to see what the north has to offer - hopfully I’ll finally learn to run on the trails and Alice Tri, might finally do a tri… (you heard it here first) 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Amsterdam marathon 3:15:10 🧡

Not my fastest, but possibly my favourite!

This year training didn’t quite materialise and my 8 week training block turned into an 8 week taper 🫠So decided to go out, ditch the watch, forget about pace and take in the atmosphere and Amsterdam definitely didn’t disappoint!

Incredible atmosphere out on the course (even in the hail☔️) and it was so nice to bump into so many familiar faces both on the course and on the sidelines who kept me going throughout!

When I ran my first marathon, which again consisted of a very long “taper” (some things never change) I finished in 4:24 and thought it would be amazing to one day run sub 4. Even though yesterday wasn’t a PB, it was a time that a couple of years ago I couldn’t ever have imagined running - it reminded me how far I’ve come and hopefully how far I’ve still got to go! taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @alice_tri3
