I’m a National Geographic Explorer!!! @natgeo @insidenatgeo 🎥📸 This is a dream come true… and a welcome chance to reflect on the past 10 years. You cant be what you cant see. So many of my heroes inspired this path for me… Thank you @lynseyaddario @anastasiatl two incredible photojournalists and Explorers who I was lucky to assist years ago. Explorers are conservationists, scientists and storytellers recognised by @natgeo for their work. They are people changing the world for the better like @mitty @jimmychin @dr.sylviaearle @janegoodallinst and more and it’s an honour to be among them. There are COUNTLESS collaborators - too many to mention - who bring visions to life and without whom this wouldn’t have happened. Special thank you to the incredible @joixlee @chloeputtock and @isabellanoero for being there through thick and thin ❤️I cant wait to share more about the project I received the grant for…now the hard work begins 🤣 and I’m just getting started!!! I wish I could say that confidence was innate for me. It never has been. It’s been built, day by day, one (excruciating!) situation after another, that pushes me to the edge of my comfort zone.Yesterday I walked into one of those rooms: the @unitednations in Vienna. I was invited to give a keynote about my work, my life, how storytelling can actually move the needle on the things we care about. These were spaces I used to admire from the outside, read about, but never pictured myself actually standing in.I’ve worked hard to project confidence. ‘Fake it till you make it’ was always a mantra of mine, and it’s carried me further than I expected. But the truth is I could never have imagined myself doing this a few years ago. And here’s the part I’m only really overcoming now: I’ve always been more at ease telling other people’s stories. My own? That scares me more than anything else.I wasn’t born with this. I just kept walking into the room before I felt ready, again and again, until it started to feel less like faking it and more like actually becoming it. So if there’s a room you’ve been standing outside of, stop waiting to feel ready. Walk in anyway. The confidence catches up. What a night!!! When this screening sold out so quickly I knew we were in for a treat. I started @visionariesfilmclub because I believe in the power of watching impactful films together, and it amazing to meet so many of you in this growing community of @visionariesOur second film club is as OCEAN with David Attenborough, followed by a Q&A with co-Director and Producer @tobynotown.This is a film that has done what few docs have done. A year on from the film's release, it was so powerful to hear Toby talk about the real-world impact this film has had and continues to have - 1,700 cinemas across 30 countries, over 1,500 free screenings reaching 160,000 people, and cited by world leaders as influencing policies to strengthen marine protection. This isn't impact that happened by accident, it was designed into the film from day one. Thank you to @electriccinema and @altitudefilms for having us and to everyone who came out on a Monday night.OCEAN with David Attenborough is made by @openplanetorg, streaming now, and also back in cinemas. by @aliceaedy

The incredible premiere of @howto_liveonearth by the inimitable @openplanetorg who have smashed it out of the park again with an incredible film featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, @xiyebeara, @danowild and @samkassdc. No easy feat to make something funny, personal and urgent, but they did it. I can’t wait to host a conversation about the film at the @youtube creator event on Thursday!! I’m so excited to see this steaming on @youtube in September, reaching the wide audiences who I hope will see this.📸 @openplanetorg, John Phillips by @aliceaedy

You can’t be what you can’t see. I always had my own preconceptions about what an ‘Explorer’ looked like. I certainly never saw myself as one. That’s what is so incredible about the @natgeosociety Explorers Fest - getting the chance to learn from some of the most remarkable, curious, courageous people on the planet - all redefining what it means to be an Explorer today. @Rolex has been supporting @natgeo Explorers for decades, and more recently through the Perpetual Planet initiative. From 396 day expeditions across the Amazon, to excavating shipwrecks from transatlantic slave trade, to getting Afghan girls into education and saving the biodiversity that is slipping through our fingers: @dr.sylviaearle, @toutiess, @bertiegregory, @tararoberts_explorer, @sbasijrasikh, @drpaulakahumbu, @fernandotrujilloomacha, @pabloborboroglu, @thomaspeschak are among the incredible explorers I got to talk to about their purpose, projects and what keeps them up at night.To be taken into their worlds and celebrate this year Explorer of the Year Krithi Karanth was incredibly special. @natgeo @natgeosociety @rolex by @aliceaedy

If I could tell my younger self I would be here, I wouldn’t have believed it. I feel so lucky to have been at the opening of the @natgeomuseum, in a historic week for @natgeo and @nageosociety. I was delighted to join the @rolex Perpetual Planet team historic opening of the Museum of Exploration which made this year’s Explorers Festival even more special. Imagine an epic immersive journey through decades of exploration from frontlines and deep seas, legendary explorers to new kids on the block. From @anastasiatl flak jacket from Ukraine, @dr.sylviaearle’s deep sea diving suits, to a journey through the Amazon with @thomaspeschak. The opening of the @natgeomuseum is historic, and to have been able witness this new chapter unfold was extraordinary - and to do it alongside so many new friends and many of my heroes was surreal. I’m still pinching myself that I get to be part of the @natgeosociety community ❤️ @natgeo @natgeosociety @rolex 📸 @petershowmedia @saadamer by @aliceaedy
