Creative mom exploring everyday, building a more vibrant life @outofoffice.network 🎪
~ Author „Reimagining the Nature of Work“

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hi 👋 I’m Alice, the founder of @outofoffice.network!

I am originally from Austria, and via years in NYC, london and remote life across Europe, Mexico and the US, now based in Barcelona, with my baby and my husband, who’s from beautiful Tuscany, which we’re lucky to call our second home.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve explored and studied work/life and culture, living in different countries, cities, places and paces. I have also worked with some of the world’s most creative teams, building programs, highlighting their craft by telling their stories and help them work better together. And learned from people living life in their own way.

I’ve designed a life and lifestyle true to myself. And with Out of Office, I want to help others do the same. It is the portal I wish more people had access to.

I believe by being out in the world, immersing yourself in how others work and live, bringing creativity into your daily life, living and breathing it — that is how you get closer to living a version of yourself that feels inspiring, and true to yourself. Not just thinking about how to live differently, but actually practicing it in everyday life.

Now Im a cultural curator, program designer, facilitator, and collaborate with artists to share their craft and stories. So this is what I’m here for! If you have questions about my path, would like to collaborate, hear more or just say hi, please do so! drop be a dm, or email I’d love to hear from you! 💌

Some moments on film from last months @outofoffice.network residency

 A few reflections:

- We need community most when we pivot.
Everyone in this group showed up at some kind of turning point. One person had been laid off and wanted to be intentional about what is coming next. Some were leaving long careers to finally bet on themselves. Others were coming back to work after becoming parents, job searching, or figuring out how to make their work sustainable while scaling their company. Or wanting to move countries. Sharing a space with people with different stories who all were at a shared moment was so powerful. Nobody’s path looked the same, and everyone left feeling a lot less alone.

- Community wisdom is the new currency.
Intentionally, there was no single „expert.“ When you bring the right people together, someone is always a few steps ahead of you on the exact thing you’re stuck on. This collective intelligence is what we can learn most from.

- Time away from work is an investment in our work.
For ambitious, busy people, focused in-person time doing non-work related things is such a valuable investment. Somewhere between creating natural dye bundles, immersing in nature, making pasta, or reading at the pool, you start hearing your own thoughts again. Saying them out loud to people who actually listen helps you find your language and your point of view. You go back connected to your center, and you move 10x more powerful from there.

- Bring your kids to work.
For one day, my daughter (and husband) joined us. Hosting with a little one def was a juggle, but I loved that she got to see a part of my work and how I connect with people. So much of our work happens on laptops, and our kids rarely get to see any of it.
I also invited an artist from Mexico City to come and share her story, and she brought her daughter too. While a room full of women listened to her mom, she curled up on her lap, BEAMING with pride ✨ Kids learn so much from watching us do what we love, and that afternoon she saw her mom as a role model in a whole new light.

Thank you to all the 10 wonderful women who came and brought all of themselves 🧡

You can start again, you can reinvent yourself, you can explore different paths and new ways of working and living, new projects and ideas.

AND you don’t have to go through it alone.

With our Creative Residency you have space to bring all the topics that have been sitting in your head and you didn’t have the space (or community, or time…) to talk about. To slow down. To get reinspired. To have fun and take things lightly. Because you are the architect of your own life. And you can do whatever you want.

Join us Sept 19-23 in Italy, close to Rome 🍝

A little peek into my life in Barcelona and where the idea for @outofoffice.network came from ✨🌼🐚

My mission is to help you return to yourself, see yourself in a way you might have not seen yourself before — open up new possibilities & paths!

That could be by spending a few days inside an artist’s studio, visiting a creative residency, or talking to some new — which can slow you down, challenge assumptions, help you see what’s possible and reconnect you with that spark of inspiration within you ✨✨

Up next: our Creative Residency in Italy Sept 19-23 — a space to reconnect to yourself and what you’d like your next chapter to be about — a week of community, co-creation and slowing down, immersed in nature and craft 🎨🖼️ all info via link in bio (or dm me)

Thank you @lennekebenders for capturing this spirit to perfectly 🙏 by @alicekatter

Memories on film 🎞️ from our @outofoffice.network Creative Residency 2 years ago.

And now, this September, she’s coming back! After a life-changing year of motherhood, moving to Barcelona and re-discovering and shaping life & work as a creative mom, I’m so excited to host a space again for humans who want to live with more intention, and be the authors of their own lives.

There’s gonna lots of time to enjoy the beautiful Italian countryside, long table dinners (which I’m especially excited about — if you’re a fellow new parent you know how rare dinners out are 😅), creative workshops to dream and learn new crafts — facilitated by myself and @ateliervetra — and the best Italian food prepared by my wonderful friend and chef in residence @chef_francesca 🍊🍝🍉 it’s a week of slow living, craft, creativity, imagination and space to reconnect to yourself.

If this sounds like smth you’re interested in, join us! We have a few spots left — all details can be found via the link in the bio 🌀🐚

Picture this…

🌞Mornings: breakfast with fresh seasonal fruit, to gather and start the day together and optional movement practice (walking along the fields, stretching, maybe yoga)

📝 Daily quest & reflection in small groups to talk about big questions you have on your mind about what’s next for you, or set an intention for something you might want to dedicate time to (a creative project, book, writing, learning knittinf or embroidery… you name it!)

🌼 2 days with our artist in residence to learn the natural dyeing practice and process, where we’ll spend a few hours foraging, learning dyeing techniques and dye clothing items

🏺 During the other days there will be one type of programming per day — a creative living manifesto creating session, a visit to a local artist studio

🫜 A light fresh lunch with locally sources ingredients under the olive trees, maybe combined with a little siesta

🐚 And apart from that, plenty of time to do your thing, enjoy the pool, wander, journal, work on your creative project..

🍝 Evenings will be spent on long table dinners, freshly prepared by our chef @chef_francesca with conversations, and just enjoying the time together

If that sounds like what you crave for, join us for our annual Creative Residency in Italy, Sept 19-23 2026 — all details via the link in our bio! taken in Italy by @alicekatter

Last month ~ creative living through my lens 🦎
Visited lots of studios and museums, from Dalís incredible house and garden, a Matisse museum in Barcelona, with a kids play area inspired by how Matisse sketched out his artworks, to an exhibition opening by one of our artist collaborators @ombredansleau (studio sessions coming this fall), to joining our seasonal flower workshop with @carlotasimog 🌼

a month, where I feel like I’m re-expanding back into parts of myself, that have been dormant for some time, felt inspired, and felt like some seeds I’ve planted earlier this year are starting to sprout. And it feels good 💜 by @alicekatter

This is how I’ve built my career — and my life. Because it was actually how I live that led to how I work.

What I keep coming back to is: you build an orbit that leads to opportunities and the life you want.

Over more than 10 years of creative entrepreneurship, traveling and living across places like NYC, LA, Mexico, Tuscany, Spain, Austria, London and working with some of the worlds most creative teams, people and companies, and building my own creative platform, here are some of my learnings (full writing on substack)

🌿 Get out and talk to people. My first London internship came from knocking on agency doors. Literally. I met one of my favourite collaborators by taking a different route home after yoga. Opportunities live outside your screen.

🤝 Build through collaboration, not just networking. Creating something together is the fastest way to build a real relationship. Most of my best projects started as an excuse to spend time with someone I admired.

🎨 Put something out into the world. A newsletter, a project, a platform. 8 out of 10 times someone asks how I met a collaborator (or new friend), the answer is Out of Office or Instagram. This allows you to start conversations with not a pitch — but an invitation.

🛠️ Work in public. Share the process, not just the polished outcome. People connect with the journey.

The most creative thing you can do is how you choose to live — seeing the world as your studio, and everyday life as your creative practice.

I wrote about all of this over on the @outofoffice.network Substack — including stories from OFFF, Dropbox, and a few chance encounters that changed everything. If this resonates and you want to build the next chapter of your life — that’s build around LIFE rather than than work-first, check out my upcoming CREATIVE LIVING cohort (special edition to build your next chapter of your career, with a life-first approach) 🌼 — comment “NEW CHAPTER” and I’ll send you all the details! by @alicekatter
