“This is a space for us to be different and be ourselves and still feel safe…” 💚✨🥾

Thoughtful reflections from one of our BWIN ambassadors, Aqua, on what makes this community feel so safe and special.

Cultivating safe spaces in the outdoors is one of our greatest intentions ✨.

What makes community spaces feel safe for you? Have you been to a BWIN event before? What aspects of the gathering(s) made you feel comfortable to show up as your full self?

Last quarter moon creations - a post for Lillie, a flower who's luminance will continue to glow

A little slow moving these days so give me a a bit of grace (but fuck it we ball). I am thankful for the circle of life - not meant for me to understand but to radically accept. No matter what, I was there. When she needed me & even when she didn't want me there I still was (she pretended to have an attitude but I know she loved me annoying her everyday lmfao). Feeding her, aiding her, telling her dumb shit to make her laugh, creating comfort so she can transition in perfect peace. Everyone can say a lot about loving & make all these long posts about how that love transformed them but unless that energy is reciprocated in action then what the fuck are we even talking about? Love is not a feeling it is an action. And that radical action makes us subject to a heartbreak that extends past ourselves into something much larger that cannot be explained but just felt. But a fear of that sadness leaves some at a distant from our loved ones when in reality it should be the opposite. Thank you to my great grandmother for giving me strength & trusting me enough to be there beyond those last days. Every time I came to see you for years, you never once took off those bracelets I made for you. You were so proud. Just last month you told me to tell you when my next event was so you could call and tell your girlfriends (lol). You loved me for me, accepting not only me but my partner. Loved Jasmine so much she was even cutting G-momma's hair sometimes lmaoooo. Even further thank you for trusting us with our first home, for trusting me to help take care of you, for trusting me with your deepest thoughts in those moments we spent together. I will never take a grandma's love for granted.

Last quarter moon creations - a post for Lillie, a flower whose luminance will continue to glow in every reality! For my sweet GREAT grandmother, who was always encouraging me to keep being creative ⭐️

The first sprouts in our raised bed garden at a home you entrusted us with. Generational wealth is your family trusting you to take care of an elder, to take care of the things they built long ago fo by @alien.lvr

Coming to terms with the circle of life as a tangible reality. Understanding & accepting the transition from the physical to another form of being as the days go on, I am blessed to find these joyous moments among the weight of responsibility. Life is looking different nowadays & there is joy alongside the reality that the circle of life is always happening but what a blessing it is to support those who have raised me (even still lolol) 🫂 Full moon in Capricorn aiding me in embracing even more responsibility - I welcome this honor with open arms & nothing but love in my heart ♾️ thank you to all those who came to celebrate a new space & the changing of the seasons 👁️‍🗨️ in all forms!!!!

May was the time for a new journey. Started off with a new place & ended with Black Birders week 🤩- full moon leads us into another month of joyous moments. Blessed for a space, blessed for the opportunity to be there for those around me & thankful for those who continue to be there for me too 🌞

My birding buddy, of course is my lovely partner Jasmine! I went to school for biology & medicinal plants & have spent countless hours outside, but yet it took meeting the love of my life to find such joy in birding 🕊️She invited me into her world of interest last year & we haven't looked back! My favorite memory (there's been a few) but it was when we went to DC & spotted a Bald Eagle on the Potomac 🤩 or even the time we spotted a Baltimore Oriole on the trail in our own new neighborhood 🧡 every time she gets a new lifer she has the biggest smile & that's my absolute favorite thing to see 🥹🫶🏽

She's so dedicated to teaching & sharing that love for our feathered friends that's she'll be helping with Black Birders week with a Falconry 101 session 🦅🦉
how proud I am!
how I adore her! 💛
