Tuned To Different Frequencies

The forthcoming @alienalarms album, released via @patchworkslabel on October 2nd, is now available for pre-order from Bancamp, link in bio.

Featuring incredible performances by Andy Hamill and @lindaronald, the album gleefully crosses genre boundaries and has already been described as "full of invention and shrewd observation" by @trustthedoc.

909s And Climate Crimes

While sharing "808s And Surveillance States" on 808 day, I wondered if I could do anything new with 909s for 909 day.

I started playing around with two copies of Topograph (Mutable Instruments Grids) in VCV triggering the same 909 rack in Ableton and got some warped, polymetric linear funk going by playing with choke groups and resetting one of the Topograph patterns every 7/8ths of a bar.

Then the "909s And Climate Crimes" (imperfect) rhyme popped in to my head and after a bit of searching I found a Creative Commons video of Tim Foley and Caitlin Johnstone's podcast which was a perfect fit and added a added a hip beat feel to the track.

A bit more searching unearthed the piano clusters and harp from Traccia III by Massimiliano Pascucci performed by Vox Àltera Ensemble on Musopen which added to the hip vibe and the track was done.

Available now on @bandcamp, link in bio.

Happy #909day! I hope you enjoy "909s And Climate Crimes" and help us switch on the lights.

Model Progression

While I was making "Model Collapse", Max Williams told me about HENGE's "Journey to Voltus B", which splits into two different timelines and it got me thinking about an alternative ending for Model Collapse where human breakbeat innovation continues. Instead of getting trapped in a loop it instead invents a possible post-jungle future and answers the AI-posed question: what should I be doing with my life?

Available on @bandcamp and streaming services now.
