TONIGHT at @prezedbrighton

The latest edition of the excellent Means Magazine is a survey of grassroots art and music, and features an article on our good selves as part of this scene.

You hear quite a lot about the need for grassroots music to feed into the wider commercial music scene, but the beauty of this publication is that it concentrates completely on the value of the grassroots in and of itself.

Inclined to be experimental, diverse, risk-taking, inclusive, local, economically available, etc etc, we are proud to present ourselves as part of this scene.

You can buy the magazine at our gigs or on BandCamp at https://meansmag.bandcamp.com/merch/means-7-you-cant-climb-a-tree-with-dead-roots

You can also soundtrack your reading with the amazing compilation which accompanies this edition, featuring @alienalarms @tony_rimbaud and Screaming Alice, amongst others.

Pick it up for a tiny sum at https://meansmag.bandcamp.com/album/means-7-grass-roots

A pearl filed under ocean, then a periphery that still has a centre.

Side A keeps the grit and the glow in the same shell, lets the resonant field keep answering after the question has sat down, finds time for a blue event on the fast lane, sets an extra place for a postcard from the future, prefers the slow lane for recovery, and measures restraint in sixty-four fluxes content to hold still.

Side B files the spirit of gravity with the soil, deepens into the moment before the moment, drifts with Berlin-school manners since the late seventies, walks a quiet figure down to the reservoir, counts time by the stars, and holds the rim so the centre can rest.

Overall mood: Contemplative, slightly cosmic, and quietly patient — full of unlatched doors, extra places, and clocks the stars prefer. Perfect for dusk listening, fields still ringing, or sitting still while the next spool still waits.

Our 25th Anniversary compilation "25"

Alien Alarms - Still Holding You

@alienalarms is a recent member of the Spirit of Gravity collective, and this track sees Jim dress his last 25 years with a repurposed vocal from an old song, a sample of one of his now grown up children as a baby, and a revisit of his older style.

To stream this and the rest of the compilation, download the digital version or order one of the remaining few CDs, go to https://spiritofgravity.bandcamp.com/ (link in bio)
