@nelbriiones is a Filipina noise artist and experimental vocalist working in industrial and drone based in Phnom Penh. She came up as a metal vocalist in the Philippines and has spent the years since pushing that voice into harsher, more abstract territory. In 2019 she co-founded the harsh noise duo White Widow with Chester Masangya. The project has released a run of splits with figures from the international noise underground — Astro, VOMIR, Mo*Te, G.X. Jupitter-Larsen — alongside its own full-length, Primal Process of Birth and Decay. In April 2021 Black Ring Rituals released Holographic Genocide, a split with the Japanese duo Sete Star Sept, White Widow's side recorded with Roman Soleno. In 2023, following the Slam City festival in Siem Reap, she joined the Cambodian metal band Reign in Slumber, whose story is told in the 2024 documentary Metal Strings. In this mix she blends industrial, drone and electronic dance. It opens with no pulse at all — drone and rubato guitar — then settles into the slow, saturated crawl of Chat Pile and a Throbbing Gristle rework, before harsh noise dissolves the beat and the second half rebuilds into locked techno. Halfway through the blazing Year of the Fire Horse, August edition of our @hkcronline radio series for Lethal Fantasies brings together Bussy Temple co-founder and Southeast Asian underground force @metamoksha with music producer and multidisciplinary artist Reka @reka.u.reka , a fresh promising force in the scene to be reckoned with. Bound at first sight through the magic of the dance floor on an auspicious night in Bangkok earlier this year, the pair explore their special connection to each other and the expansiveness of the universe through music. Moving between deconstructed club, heavy bass, industrial textures, and hyper-sensory rhythms, her selections and productions treat sound as a lived, somatic imperative. Highly sensitive to themes of oppression, identity, and liberation, her sets dismantle categorization and rules in favor of visceral, unapologetic freedom. For July’s @hkcronline @lethalfantasies transmission with @bussytemple, we turn our focus to Bangkok-based experimental artist @pympit, who works with sound through coding, hardware, noise and performance. Her practice is rooted in trial and error, where experimentation is both a process and a way of thinking. She is interested in memory, personal narratives, ritual, and distortion, using sound to revisit and reshape familiar experiences. Her performances are built through improvisation, raw materials, coding, repetition, and uncertainty. In the mix, she performs her own original productions — brash, industrial transmissions that hover between menace and reverie. Meticulous sound design collides with tectonic low ends: sub-frequencies that press against the body, haunted textures flickering at the edge of recognition.
