We celebrated this amazing dad all day yesterday for his birthday. He got to make the plans and that meant -NO PLAN! We headed out to explore our new home-away-from-home in Marathon. No itinerary, no decisions, just drive around and stop when it looks interesting. This was my favorite stop, we’ll definitely be back! After nearly five months of studying every single day for the biggest challenge of his journey so far — Drew passed his boards earlier this summer, his White Coat Ceremony was Friday and today he officially starts clinicals.

So incredibly proud of the hard work, discipline and determination it took to get here. And in true Drew fashion, he created the best tribe of friends who helped each other through it. He rose to the challenge and earned every bit of this moment.

First day of school-grown a$$ men edition! 📚 😂

Ian: First day of 3rd year at SMU.
Drew: First day of 3rd year medical school — and officially starting clinicals. 🩺

I swear I blinked.

One is halfway through college and the other is heading into the hospital to take care of actual human beings, which seems mildly terrifying considering I remember dragging them to kindergarten like it was yesterday.

So proud of these two and excited to see what this year brings.

And yes, I will continue requiring first-day-of-school pictures until there’s grandbabies to replace them, or they’re done with academia, neither of which seems to be in our near future. ❤️

🌊 Float & Flow: Paddleboard Yoga at Lake of Egypt 🌊

Join me for a relaxing, playful one-hour paddleboard yoga class on beautiful Lake of Egypt in partnership with Marion/Shawnee National Forest KOA.

This is the perfect summertime mix of gentle movement, breath, balance, fresh air and a little adventure on the water. No yoga or paddleboard experience necessary — wobbling is expected and falling in is part of the fun!

Our first full-house trip to our Key Largo townhouse was a success! We even packed Drew’s surprise crew of 4 more one night. At 12 guests, the house was certainly full but that’s how we love it most🥰

We got very lucky with near record highs for January-84 degrees one day! We dined out most lunches and every dinner for 7 days and still didn’t brush the surface of all the great places to go. Explored sandbar hangout spots, shopped for art work, and kayaked through the mangroves, found a hidden beach a block away and got to know the marina better.

Until February, we’ll be dreaming of our island getaway😍.
